While the White Umbrella awaits its detached Moral Leader, it must not stop us from writing a speech for “him or her” in advance to let “him or her” know how high our expectations are.
So here goes …..
Dear Friends
As I stand upto address you a billion thoughts cross my mind, 1.147 billion to be precise.
It troubles me greatly to think that any one of those 1.147 billion thoughts is any less than another.
It also troubles me greatly when every one of those 1.147 billion thoughts is given a banal label calling them “aam admi”.
When I wake up every morning and look myself in the mirror I am challenged by only one thought, how do I make every one of those 1.147 billion thoughts feel special, feel unique, feel touched and appreciated so not one of you my friends has to look yourself in the mirror and feel that you are just another “aam admi”.
I feel challenged on what I can do within my limited sphere of influence to spread this infection called Optimism so every one of those 1.147 billion Indians goes to sleep every night feeling comforted that each and every one of their voices are being heard, each and every one of their interests protected and each and every one of their aspirations fulfilled.
I feel challenged on how do I build a Tent that is big enough on its margins so every single one of these 1.147 billion thoughts finds not just room but freedom, space and opportunity to pursue its aspirations and not a single one of the 1.1.47 billion voices ever feels excluded.
I feel challenged on how do I inspire confidence in each one these 1.1147 billion voices that the only hurdle between them and their aspirations is their own imagination in what can be.
I feel challenged on how do I restore credibility to the Institutions of the State and the Constitution so every one of these 1.147 billion voices believes that the Rule of Law works for each and every one of them and not against their individual aspirations.
As I spend every waking moment contemplating this arduous task ahead I am under no illusion of my limitations as an Individual.
But then I am comforted by the thought that I am not alone in building this big New Tent and I have 1.147 billion special friends each one of who can bring his or her own unique abilities to bear in building it.
It gives me comfort to go to sleep every night that I am not alone in dreaming big and hoping for the impossible, there are 1.147 billion dreams keeping my imagination company.
This infection called Optimism will not make Poverty go away any time soon, it will not eliminate hunger overnight, it will not erase the deep social prejudices that afflict our society and it will not eliminate all the unethical practices that have become Institutionalized in our public and private lives.
I am under no illusion on that account.
But I am unrelenting and uncompromising in my faith in this infection called Optimisim so poverty, hunger, prejudices and immorality does not come between every one of you and those 1.147 billion aspirations to prevent you from trying.
It troubles me greatly when the dominant political idea is one which lumps all of those 1.147 billion aspirations under the banality of commonness.
Every single time the State calls you an “aam admi” it expresses a lack of faith in your unique abilities.
Every single time the State claims it has an agenda that is “pro-aam admi” it admits to an utter lack of sensistivity to how special your individual aspirations can be to you.
Ever single time the State labels you as “Below the Poverty Line” or “Above the Poverty Line” it diminishes your self respect for it betrays no interest in where your individual aspirations lie.
It is my solemn assurance that in the new Big Tent the spirit of “Antyodya” shall mean not just the last man or woman standing but every man and woman standing will find freedom and opportunity to pursue their aspirations.
It is my solemn assurance that in the new Big Tent there will be no “aam admi”, every one of the 1.147 billion will be respected and privileged as a “khaas admi” with a unique place for their needs and aspirations.
Friends, this infection called Optimisim can make us feel giddy, thinking the unthinkable and imagining the impossible but then that innate Indian trait of being rooted in reality of the present will very quickly bring us back to the ground to pose many questions.
Is any of this practical ?
Is it too idealistic ?
Will I be included or excluded based on my identity ?
What about historical wrongs against my people, will I get Justice ?
What about my special needs as a religious minority, will I get an exception ?
What about my Culture and Values, will it be diluted at the altar of making ammends and exceptions for others ?
Neither are these questions new and nor will I promise to give you answers that you havent heard before.
So what will be new in this Big Tent, you may ask ?
Let me tell you what will be new in this Big Tent
If something is not practical it will not be because some bureaucrat sitting in New Delhi conjured an impractical scheme.
If something is too idealistic it will not be because some Delhi based Politician from the right family peddled his naivety and ignorance for ”progressive innocence”
If someone feels excluded based on their identity it will not be because some Political Party abused its Legislative Majority to frame a discriminatory law
If someone feels that despite historical wrongs against their community they still dont have equal access to opportunities it will not be because a Political Party that swears by Identity blackmailed its way to secure special entitlements
If someone feels they have special needs as a Minority it will not be because the State has limited their freedom to practice their faith in any manner
If someone feels their Culture and Values have been diluted it will not be because the State is appeasing others or reversing discriminating against them
Here is what will be new in the Big Tent.
Every one of your 1.147 billion voices will find expression and will influence how your destiny is shaped as power returns from New Delhi and from your State Capitals back to your Towns, Cities, Taluks and Villages.
Your freedom to pursue your aspirations will not be stifled by a remote Government sitting in Delhi or by an indifferent Bureaucracy sitting in your State Capitals.
But with that freedom will also come a responsibility to look after your community and manage the affairs of your Faith rather than abdicate it to the State at the cost of your freedom.
Friends, I will not burden you anymore with what may appear to be mere rhetoric.
Its time to Walk the Talk and build this new Big Tent and a beginning must be made.
As I commit myself to this trial by fire my thoughts go back to ancient times when our great intellectual leaders of yesteryears, the Rishis and the Munis put themselves through immense hardship in the pursuit of enlightenment.
There is no recourse to the lofty peaks of Himalayas in this 21st century Tapas. This trial by fire will be in the dust and din of this proud country we call Bharat, India, Hindustan.
Its interests will always be protected and advanced, no compromises will be made with National Interest at the altar of political opportunism or political correctness.
Every step I take in this trial by fire I shall not lose sight of the 1.147 billion aspirations that abound this proud land.
For with every one of those 1.147 billion aspirations there are perhaps 1.147 billion apprehensions on threats to our National Interest from within and from the outside.
I may not allay everyone of those apprehensions but I can assure you that I will hold myself to the highest standards of Dharma every step of the way to tell right from wrong and never forget that it is Nation first and Self last.
In closing let me say that it is not enough to call this Tent new, big and inclusive for at its heart must lie a moral compass that reminds us that at the end of the day Dharma must be upheld.
With these words I call upon you to cleanse sacred Saffron of the taint from murky politics and restore to its hallowed placed in the privacy of our homes and temples.
With these words I also call upon you to embrace the pristine white of the Shveta Chhatra as a non theocratic symbol of Dharma that will always guarantee
Freedom to every one of the 1.147 billion Indians
Freedom to their Communities and Faith to realize their aspirations and allay their apprehensions
by delivering Justice to All and ensuring Discrimination against none.
I call upon you to spread the infection called Optimism in this new Big Tent under the White Umbrella.

Retire???
WTH???
Not now. Not when India and BJP needs a 1000 more Offstumpeds.
Please reconsider.
Yossarin, does this mean you are officially joining BJP? Or will have political role of some kind?
Good luck with your new venture. We’ll miss your blog posts and the associated comments of offstumped followers even more.
bit ot.
this is one of the comment from http://www.promiseofreason.com
“If you analyze the voting statistics of many constituencies in AP and Tamilnadu, it is clear that something impossible has occurred. This was most probably due to massive fraud by rigging/manipulating the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). We all know that any kind of fraud is possible in India. Ask any expert, who spent some years in the high-tech world, he would tell how easy it is to break the EVMs’s embedded code and manipulate the voting. This needs serious investigation
the comment below about subramiam swamy alleging evm tampering shudl be pursued in court with the evidence he has made available
EVM hacked in 50 centers
Subramaniam Swamy’s press release for 4/4/2009
04.04.2009
PRESS RELEASE
The Congress Party President Ms.Sonia Gandhi seeing the imminent collapse of the UPA has set-up a seven member ‘crisis management’ team of foreigners based in a five star hotel in Delhi. This is a serious threat India’s national security.
While the names of all seven members are available with me, I am gathering the detailed antecedents of these dirty seven. The first member identified for me is an obscure UK-based journalist called Mr.David Green who has written for London tabloids on “snack foods”. He was easy to identify because he is often seen-by SPG at the residence of Ms.Sonia Gandhi reading secret files being made available to her by some Ministers and bureaucrats. Indian intelligence is being blocked by the Home Minister P.Chidambaram from investigating whether Ms.Green is an operative for British Intelligence, the MI-6.
One of the tasks assigned to this nefarious team is how to doctor the electronic voting machines in about 50 constituencies by using dual passwords technique and by hacking via wireless cyber techniques.
Regarding the elections in Tamilnadu, it was the election held by DMK and their family… Not by the election comission. What pathetic was, the result of P.Chidambaram, honourable Home minister. Almost he lose the seat by 15000 votes around 12.30 PM on the counting day and at the end of the day the EC announced that P.C won by 3200 votes… This is because the announcement came from the PM office that he will be the home minister whether he retains his seat or lost his seat.. Misuses the power of Home minister he won.. An another example was the result of vaiko in Virudhunagar constituency, the registered vote was around 7 lakhs 40 thousand and while counting the no of votes were 7 lakhs 63 thousand… Still a Miracle where the extra 23 thousand votes came from.. and Vaiko lost by 14000 votes… And the worst case is he was lost by Manic Tagore a Delhi Person. He dont know Tamil and he campaigned in a more of rural constituency(People only Knows Tamil).. Tamilnadu is now becoming like the Bihar… Same on tamilnadu.. I felt very bad for being a tamilan in this state…
can someone please explain why the upa ruled states had no anti-incumbency,unlike the nda and left ruled states.
Can the central ec under congress picked nominees collude with upa state cms in rigging seats especially the close seats.Delhi, haryana and maharashtra congress actually gained
and there was a surge in tamil nadu in the last hour
even thou allianec math was higher than dmk and vijaykanth could cut into bothe dmk and admk.
I have not seen any article that explains exactly how the evm’s software work, who guards them before counting and whether they are tamper proof. All inid has a right to know
but english media are owned by congress”.
continuing my last post..
there must have been a heavy manipulation by The congress in elections, for example if you look at AP results congress got around 158 seats in AP Assemebly which is around 10 more than required majority of 148, but when it comes to Loksabha seats it is a complete sweep by the Congress which got more than 30 seats.
if people are so much liked the Congress party how come they didn’t vote for a complete sweep for Congress.
and also if you look at some of the seats lost by the Congress party in AP, the PCC president D.Srinivas who is not in good terms with CM YSR Reddy lost the election, it is same with most of the state’s ministers, YSR ensured that most of the misters from Telangana area to lose the elections.
so Swapanda the first issue to be raised by every one is election manipulation of Congress party which is closley aligned with election along with media support.
Yoss boss,
, so I accidently pasted that here
please read Yossarin inplace of Swapanda
becoz I posted the same comment before in Swapanda’s blog
Its time we stop spreading rumours about EVM rigging. This topic was discussed on BRF the night before election results. There might be instances of booth capturing but I have full faith in the EVMs.
wow
YOSSARIN looking eagerly for you being having MEDIA.
WE DEFINATELY NOT WANT BJP SUPPORTED MEDIA,BUT MEDIA WHICH IS TRUE AND HONEST WITH NATIONALIST THINKING.
@TANMAY
WHY CANT “EVM” BE HACKED,IF IMPORTANT WEBSITE OF MINISTRY/DEFENCE ARE HACKED?????
WELL I AM NOT A TECHNICAL MAN,NOT KNOWING ANYTHING BUT KNOWS ONE THING THAT EVEN YOUR “PERSONAL CREDIT CARD” TOO GETS MANIPULATED.
TN/AP RESULTS ARE REALLY VERY SURPRISING,AND THIS ISSUE MUST BE DISCUSSED IN FORUM
Yossarin, having read your blog from the days of o3.indiatimes.com ( the first few posts were on godhra and brilliant
), then to INI and then here, i should say you are one of the best voices of reason. Offstumped is a great platform to share ideas , not only of Right of centre but also of Dharma. I would request you to not abandon this ’spark’ and convert Offstumped into a group blog of sorts if you have personal commitments which do not allow you to post regularly.
Best of luck for your venture.
May it ignite more minds.
Yossarin,
Sincere thanks for all the posts over all the years. Good luck with your future projects.
We will miss the posts and comments.
gGoing to miss ur thoughtful blog and comments from offstumped community.
@Tanmay: Your faith must be interested in this: http://www.newsweek.com/id/199102/

@Yossarin, dude, you’ll be missed. And so will be Offstumped. Anyway, I hope, you keep us updated on your new assignments. Will wait. Take care!
Yoss,
Offstumped, Yoss and fellow commentators will be missed. I stopped commenting because of the disappointment. I hope Offstumped is not stopping because of the same.
Yossarin,
You’ll be missed. All the best in whatever you pursue.
Hey Yossarin,
Great post, and you will be sorely missed. I hope your book project works out well. Also, do keep writing in the public domain every once in a while, it will be great to hear your views on the more mundane day to day politicking apart from your views on Dharma and the Shveta Chattra!
Best of luck in your future endeavours.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. The debate will continue. There will be another live event next weekend between Offstumped readers to discuss next steps on how to keep this spark alive and the community engaged. More details will follow shortly.
Arjun thanks a lot for the link.
“Numerous electronic-voting inconsistencies in developing countries, where governments are often all too eager to manipulate votes, have only added to the controversy. After Hugo Chávez won the 2004 election in Venezuela, it came out that the government owned 28 percent of Bizta, the company that manufactured the voting machines. Similarly, the 2004 elections in India were notorious for gangs stuffing electronic ballot boxes in villages”.
Yoss, I think we need to discuss more about this e-voting, Iam not trying to spread rumors but this is a gunuine issue.
even the developed countries like US and European countries are also not have full faith in e-voting, so in that case any manipulation can be possible in India.
We are pleased to announce the launching of a Forums AND Blogs website about all things Indian at
http://www.jitegabharat.com
That India, along with China, is the story of the 21st century is stating the obvious. What India needs to do along the way is to influence and shape the world with it’s values, attitude and behavior rooted deeply in it’s sense of history and culture.
JitegaBharat.com is an attempt at helping define the “winning ways” of India in the years to come.
We are also happy to provide you with the ability to create your own blog to unleash the hidden creative writer in you. Not many sites offer such a congregation of Forums AND Blogs but we are delighted to provide you with such an experience.
Another unique feature of this site is that we will provide (create) a forum (FREE of charge ) for any association of Indians (in India or abroad) to serve as the platform for interaction among it’s members. This can be a cultural, social, religious, business, charitable organization, a city-specific association, a hobby or investment club, or an Alumni Association of your school or college, etc. After you have registered, you can send an e-mail to the user “Admin” requesting creation of such a forum and indicating the name of the association. After the Forum has been created, you can inform members of your association about the forum. If at anytime, it becomes necessary for you to moderate your own forum, that can be enabled as well.
Feel free to make suggestions to add different categories of forums or to improve user experience.
We welcome your participation and look forward to years of informative and entertaining interactions on any and every subject that will enhance your and India’s strengths, diminish our weaknesses, overcome any threats and explore all opportunities.
The inspirations that we will take from this forum will naturally translate in to action in every sphere of life that we participate in. Similarly, do bring your own unique perspective to the forums and blogs and enlighten us.
So have a go at it and enjoy the ride as much as the destination!
Have a nice day & a satisfying life.
- Administrator,
Jitega Bharat … The Heartbeat of “India Uncaged” !
Forums, Blogs & Much More about all things Indian !!
what? what? what? wt…?
yoss, you are taking this BJP loss way too personally, its business, it aint personal! Let me make you an offer you cant refuse
you’ll be missed dude, you’ll be missed!
Yossarin,
Will surely miss your blog, although I’m hopeful that your views would reach a larger audience if (and when) you choose to be part of a right-of-center media group.
IMO one of BJP’s (and indeed the center-right’s) key weaknesses is the lack of a popular and cogent voice in the media that is sympathetic to its views.
Wishing you the best in your future endeavors…
I had a sense of something like this coming… since May 17th!!!
Yossarin, what about my daily dose of your blog????
Yoss,
I missed the Live Q&A event this weekend.Hope to see the transcript soon.
Your decision is a big loss for the right of centre crowd in the Indian blogosphere. However, I hope your second coming will happen sooner than later.
All the best with your book project and the media project as well.
And I hope there is some way to keep in touch with other commentors here.
cheers,
Kumar
Thanks Photonman
Ravindra – tweets should do for daily dose for now
Kumar- transcript will be out soon, join the next Q&A live event, @centerofright will be in touch with you and others on scheduling it.
Yossarin…..We all know and appreciate the services you have rendered in past 5 years.
But time has not yet come to hang up the boots.
Kindly review your decision.
Yossarin – It has been wonderful reading your blogs on myriad of issues. But disappointed after coming to know your decision. In fact, the whole community (surely would have been offstumped-addicted, like me !) would be missing you. It makes it merely headless, whatever be your efforts on continuing this blog without you moderating the debates (not to offend/disregard anyone here – infact it’s the combination of both the blogger and it’s commentators that made it so successful until now). Thought this platform, with the help of its regular readers/commentators would some day culminate into some thing more useful, rather than just being as a mere intellectual exercise.
Anyways, wish you all the good luck in all your endeavors. Request you to consider posting an article once/twice a month.
Thanks.
Bloggerind – thanks for those thoughtful comments. Its entirely up to the community on how to reinvent and take this forward, I am hopeful that it will evolve into something “useful”.
Sharat – The debate will go on, thanks for hanging in there all along.
Like the yoss of the book you too seemed to have found freedom from the madness. Methinks you are flown to some foreign land . Adios
ps:If you do start a news channel, please do advertise on this blog, coz i could bear to watch TV then. Till then I remain chaste from the seduction of the MSM.
Those of who joined the live session enjoyed exchanging ideas. We are looking forward to the coming weekend’s live session to decide the way forward.
As I have indicated in an earlier post (above), I have started a Forums & Blogs website at http://www.JitegaBharat.com. This has been discussed as one of the options on which to possibly converge our efforts. I intend to approach many an Indian blogger to publish there blogs on JitegaBharat.com since such a power of aggregation will out pace scattered blogs over time.
I had been working on this website before YOSS’s decision to discontinue blogging became known.
Whether or not we move forward with our efforts at JitegaBharat.com or elsewhere, I want to suggest that where ever we continue these efforts, for them to reach common man, they need to be in an environment where s/he gets exposed to others subjects also (that will keep him/her coming back), such as, entertainment, sports, multiple forums, multiple blogs, business, science, technology, entrepreneurship, inspirational articles / videos / podcasts etc.
Only an all round site with exposure to right-of-center thinking will get the Aam Admi to keep revisiting such a site. This is precisely what I have in mind at JitegaBharat.com
Remember that most people frequently visiting a blog specifically geared toward an ideology are already followers of that ideology or sympathetic to it.
The real battle lies in the vast middle ground of 60+ % (that is not drawn to a specific ideology by default) & these are the very people we need to influence.
I would like to get suggestions & constructive feedback from experienced bloggers and forum participants as to how to improve JitegaBharat.com website and its outreach to the Aam Admi.
well Media is making noise on “PADAMSINH PATIL” arrest and thereby targetting Sharad pawar.
so now all are corrupt, criminal party except one GRAND OLD PARTY.
By the way in Maharahtra itself One more High profile Murder Case involving our Lady “MAHAMAHIM” brother.
WHEN CBI GOING TO ARREST THAT “VIP BROTHER”?????
yes, Yoss , I too am regular reader of your blog and will definitely miss your input( in a form of a blog). I started reading your blog when you got into the Dharma debates and really found it refreshing !
I do hope you continue blogging. ( at least once in a while).
Wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
Thanks Trupti_inlaw I am exploring some automated means to aggregate the twitter tidbits into weekly blog posts, more on that soon.
To ZIM in response to our offline email exchange
- We can debate history endlessly on Gandhi it wont change the reality of the present times.
- Constitution as it stands today maybe imperfect and can do with improvements but those will have to happen democratically within the framework of the Constitution without altering its basic structure. The principle of upholding the Constitution as Dharma has to do with its basic tenets as far as the Rule of Law goes.
What that means – dont justify frequent violations of the rule of law on the grounds that constituion is imperfect so one is entitled to violence.
Not only is that unacceptable even the perception that you will push the envelope on the rule of law by issuing threats of violence is unacceptable.
Till the perception and the reality on this count are unambiguously addressed this issue wont go away, hence the need for Closure, Truth and Reconicliation on past issues.
This is not be confused with the Dharma of the State to bear arms to defend itself and to secure its strategic interests. Non-violence is not an option for the State, as and when National Interest demands it is in the Dharma of the State to exercise all options at its disposal to defend National Interest.
“I am exploring some automated means to aggregate the twitter tidbits into weekly blog posts”
Great!! This would do for time atleast.
Kindly also ensure that your earlier blogs are not lost and offstumped.wordpress.com continues to be a vibrant site for Offstumped community.
Many Thanks.
So long and thanks for all the posts!
Yossarin
Bharat Mata Ki Jai!
“I feel challenged on how do I restore credibility to the Institutions of the State and the Constitution so every one of these 1.147 billion voices believes that the Rule of Law works for each and every one of them and not against their individual aspirations.”
“I am not alone in building this big New Tent and I have 1.147 billion special friends each one of who can bring his or her own unique abilities to bear in building it.”
“I shall not lose sight of the 1.147 billion aspirations that abound this proud land.”
-I shall always send my heartfelt good wishes in thoughts to your Big Tent mission(I believe it’s an all-encompassing tent, irrespective of differences of viewpoints, suggestions, opinions etc.)
– Vijayei Bhavo!
“It also troubles me greatly when every one of those 1.147 billion thoughts is given a banal label calling them “aam admi”.
so not one of you my friends has to look yourself in the mirror and feel that you are just another “aam admi”.
-Your resentment towards this term ‘aam admi’ is gratuitous,(although it’s been exploited for self-centred gains by one 7 all-politicians, but so has the word ‘Dharma’ by many self-styled crooks)nature has already bestowed uniqueness to every human being, I , for one, as a common man, simply need security, the right to exercise my freedoms under the charter of human rights, accountability & overall prosperity of the nation for which I want to express my gratitude to those amongst us who volunteer to represent my personal basic aspirations & selflessly serves to uphold my beloved nation(which is a sacred living entity for me)& hope that in the process he doesn’t loses sight of his commitments & the trust laid in him by me – the common citizenry. Who , especially in our country, are content in being so, while going on with their karma’s in gaiety.
Kindly read- to uphold the values of my beloved nation)
Aam Insaan – Didnt quite understand your point, if your point is most Indians are easily satisfied with least common denominator, I have no argument with that. But that must not stop leaders from inspiring Indians to aspire for more than the least common denominator.
Its about creating an environment where every Aspiration gets the opportunity it desires.
Is it Dharma only for BJP.
wat about Secular guys like Congress & Media.
Just see this news just in the corner about P CHIDAMBARAM “adharma” done by MANmOHAN sINGH
iF MEDIA are true follower of Dharma then they must force THIS GOVERNMENT to have this case done by FAST TRACK COURT??????

Yossarian
“Aam Insaan – Didnt quite understand your point, if your point is most Indians are easily satisfied with least common denominator, I have no argument with that.”
-Yes & No, most Indians are deprived & swindled of what is their rightful least common denominator. Satisfaction is subjective thus debatable.
“ But that must not stop leaders from inspiring Indians to aspire for more than the least common denominator.”
-Depends, where the supposedly leader is coming from, the motive behind the inspiration- whether the motivation is selfless & compassionately all-encompassing (Vivekananda) or creating a personality cult (the mao’s, stalin’s , hitlers & many lesser ones like the nehru’s etc. – you can’t deny their leadership). Plus there’s more to India & many Indians with context to aspiration than the least common denominator, but that’s a different subject altogether, pardon my digression.
India, in particular, given it’s complexities, requires political administration by competent technocrats & a host of able statesmen at the helm of affairs in all states, not the run of the mill politicians it’s infested with presently.
“Its about creating an environment where every Aspiration gets the opportunity it desires.”
- It’s all this ‘creating an environment’ business that’s the root cause of all ills. It’s first ignorance is that it doesn’t accepts that which exists, on an as it is where it is basis, immediately start on a wrong footing & goes all hammer & tong under the intoxicated influence of the ‘power to change’ it, whereas all that’s got to be done, is not to ‘create’ but rather merely act as a catalyst that facilitates an on-going process of desired transformations for the general good of the country. (General good generally clashes with the ‘aspirations’ of religious/political/caste/business/academic etc. Groups). If the environment at the macro level of governance is made conducive enough then the results automatically trickle down to the micro levels, not only as desired opportunities to every Aspirations but also as possibilities to the much Needy, the latter being the utmost priority in present day India.
Thus, the changes in the surroundings would form according to its innate inclinations and potentialities & not created atypically as some particular leader, group or political party wishes it to be.
All the Gujarat Government Scheme started by Narendra bhai is now being “PIRATED” by congi leader and MEDIA hailing them Great 100 days scheme.
First it was SIBAL,now MOILY suggesting Evening Court.
Does they know Gujarat already have that
Now our honourable Home minister has said sorry to Kandhamal riot affected people. No media person dared ask him why he did not say sorry to Kashmiri Hindus when he went to J&K. Forget saying sorry i wonder if any misniter has ever visted them in the refugee camps.
Media & Congi raised PARLIAMENT ATTACK as major Terror Attack in NDA rule.
So does that not make AFZAL GURU case as MOST Priority Case, after all it was ATTACK on INDIAN DEMOCRACY????
Hi Yossarin!
Very sad to hear you are retiring from blogging. I was quite busy for a month and came to know just now that you won’t write here any more. I hope the discussion will continue in some or other way as indicated in some comments here. I wish I can meet once, you and all others commenting over here! All the best in your future endeavors.

EVM Machines and 2009 Election

It is very serious matter if it is proved the rigging of EVM in 2009 Lok Sabha Election, the Hon President then may cancell the election results and even disolve the Lok Sabha. I was surprised when at 5.3 morning some Naib Tahsildar called on telephone on one day before voting, I was suprised he told me to come at Sawantwadi, to inspect the EVM machines. I asked him the govt. offices open at 10.30 how you will arrange the checking, he did not replied and disconnected the phone. Then I personally went to one govt office, with the EVM Contractor, to show whether it is possible, at first instance he said yes, but when he came to knew that I am candidate he refused to show me. In fact after completing my B.Sc. I have done a diploma in Electronic Counting Machinery manufacturing, and when I opned the EVM machine I done some good works it is possible. The present EVM are manufacturer in Kerala, before 10 years back, at all most all staff of 10-Janpath. I do not want to say any link but definately for purchase contract there might be telephonic talk with staff. In all most all European and American countries the elections are back on Paper ballot, even in Vatican City no EVM used in any election, even at the time of top policy making on relegion or any matter of city. I strongly request to Hon President of India, to give entire matter for investigation from some sitting Hon. SCI Judge, because the present CEC was supported by 24-AICC.

question is that EC must act on it immediately and claer all doubt.
The records retained in the factories must also be immediately taken over by the EC to prevent any tampering and to facilitate an audit.
EC must act and we must keep watch on this development.

Speaking to Express, she said the Election Commission had entrusted the work of manufacturing EVMs to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bangalore, and Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad.
But according to her, these two companies had outsourced the manufacturing of microprocessors used in the EVMs to a foreign country in complete violation of the provisions of the Constitution.
Nesargi said that neither the Parliament nor any constitutional authority had authorised the EC or the BEL/ECIL to outsource the manufacture of micro-processors.
According to her, microprocessors lodged in the EVMs could be monitored with the help of a remote control; and in Nesargi’s view, this is what transpired in Bidar.
Raising doubts about the conduct of the Returning Officer during the Bidar LS polls, she said the officer went inside the strong room, where EVMs were stored, twice without informing the candidates. According to Nesargi, it was mandatory for the Returning Officer to ensure the presence of candidates while entering the strong room.
Nesargi also pointed out another ‘discrepancy’. She said that in some polling booths Gurupadappa had polled only one and two votes, an impossible scenario according to her if you take into account the votes he would be getting from his polling agents and his family.
Such instances clearly point to the tampering of the EVMs, said Nesargi. “This is the first time such a case has been filed in India,” the senior advocate claimed.
All the documents supporting the petition and one CD have been submitted to the Court, she said.
Awaiting details: Dharam Gulbarga: Former chief minister and Bidar MP Dharm Singh said he would study the petition filed against him before commenting on the matter.
WOW
JUST SEE CONGRESS TOO IS SAYING EVM WAS TAMPERED????

The result of the April-May 2009 General Elections to the 15th Lok Sabha has proved that Indian psephologists and media pundits on Indian politics, particularly from the electronic media, are worse than astrologers. But like astrologers even after they err they righteously peddle their wrongs as rights, and d keep the viewers in their shibboleth. As this is an integral part of their disingenuous commercial and survival strategy, the less said, the better.
There have been complaints about election rigging. As this is nothing new, India has not had violence and mayhem as Iran witnessed recently. All the same the complaints cannot be taken lightly.
In an Op-Ed “Dangers of trusting them too much” in The New Indian Express of 29 May 2009, reproduced with minor modifications as another Op-Ed “Are electronic voting machines tamper-proof?” in The Hindu of 17 June 2009, Subramanian Swamy wrote:
Is there a possibility of rigging electoral outcomes in a general election to the Lok Sabha? This question has arisen not only because of the unexpected number of seats won or lost by some parties in the recent contest. It is accentuated by the recent spate of articles published in reputed computer engineering journals and in the popular international press, which raise doubts about the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Why are the EVMs so vulnerable? Swamy’s explanation is important:
Each step in the life cycle of a voting machine — from the time it is developed and installed to when the votes are recorded and the data transferred to a central repository for tallying — involves different people gaining access to the machines, often installing new software. It wouldn’t be hard for, say, an election official to paint a parallel programme under another password on one or many voting machines that would, before voters arrived at the poll stations, ensure a pre-determined outcome.
Swamy’s article is of huge political relevance in India, as evident from his own claims:
The Election Commission of India has known of these dangers since 2000. Dr M. S. Gill, the then CEC, had arranged at my initiative for Professor Sanjay Sarma, the father of RFID software fame at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and his wife Dr Gitanjali Swamy of Harvard, to demonstrate how unsafeguarded the chips in EVMs were. Some changes in procedure were made subsequently by the EC. But the fundamental flaws, which made them compliant to hacking, remained.
In 2004, the Supreme Court’s First Bench, comprising Chief Justice V. N. Khare and Justices Babu and Kapadia, directed the Election Commission to consider the technical flaws in EVMs put forward by Satinath Choudhary, a U.S.-based software engineer, in a PIL. But the EC has failed to consider his representation.
Now several High Courts are hearing PILs on the EVMs. This is good news. I believe the time has arrived for the Supreme Court to transfer these cases to itself, and take a long, hard look at these riggable machines that favour a ruling party that can ensure a pliant Election Commission. Else, elections will soon lose their credibility and the demise of democracy will be near. Hence evidence must now be collected by all political parties to determine the number of constituencies in which they suspect rigging. The number will not exceed 75, in my opinion. We can identify them as follows: any 2009 general election result in which the main losing candidate of a recognised party found that more than 10 per cent of the polling booths showed fewer than five votes per booth should be taken, prima facie, as a constituency in which rigging took place. This is because the main recognised parties usually have more than five party workers per booth, and hence with their families will poll a minimum of 25 votes per booth for their party candidate. If these 25 voters can give affidavits affirming who they voted for, the High Court can treat this as evidence and order a full inquiry.
If the cases are transferred to the Supreme Court, in adjudicating them time is the essence. If the court deals with them in its usual lackadaisical style Swamy’s prophesy of doom, that is, elections soon losing their credibility and the demise of democracy will be near, may turn out to be a reality.
Apart from the question of the reliability of the EVM, in several places there were attempts amounting to large-scale riggings by blatant bribing of the electorate (A 500 rupees note with each election coupon, as the DMK did in Tamil Nadu, which might have happened in other states well; free distribution of sarees, free flow of liquor, and so on). When the other sordid and unsavory issues mentioned in the column last week are added to this, we get a murky scenario somewhat similar to that in Iran. If we have not taken to streets and violence it may be because our commitment to democracy and good governance is only skin-deep.
Having said the above, as “innocent till proven guilty” is the principle of democratic countries, till any legal miracle happens, with or without the conjurer’s hat of Swamy, the Congress and its allies in the UPA should be given the benefit of doubt and their victory should not be seen as Pyrrhic.
