With the votes set to be counted for the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, here is what Offstumped is looking forward to today.
#1 Will the BJP overtake the Congress as the single largest party and if so by what margin ?
#2 Will Andhra turn in a hung assembly and if so how will the power equations be re-writtent by the voters. Specifically can the TDP manage the numbers with TRS and others or does the Congress have an outside chance by roping in Chiranjeevi’s PRP ?
#3 Will Orissa turn out a hung assembly. Specifically can Naveen Patnaik’s BJD manage the numbers with others or will he be compelled to a suicidal embrace of the Congress. Will Orissa become the next Karnataka for the BJP ?
#4 Will Maharashtra continue to deliver a split verdict or has the BJP-Shiv Sena combine turned the corner in this key large state ?
#5 Will Tamil Nadu’s unusually high turnout mean a AIADMK sweep or will it be a split verdict for Tamil Nadu’s revolving door politics ?
Specific bellwhether seats of interest are
#1 Mandi in Himachal Pradesh which has voted for the party that has formed the government last 6 elections. A BJP loss here would be ominous
#2 Will Dumka in Jharkhand vote against JMM/Congress/RJD
#3 Will Mayurbhanj in Orissa vote against BJP ?
#4 Will Nandyal in Andhra vote against Congress ?
#5 Will Mahabubnagar in Andhra surprise the TRS by dumping KCR ?
#6 Will Peddapalle in Andhra vote against the Congress ?
#7 Will the BJP sweep Rajmahal, Godda, Jamshedpur and Giridih in Jharkhand ?
#8 Which of these 3 Gujarat bellwhether seats will BJP wrest or retain – Anand, Bulsar, Banaskantha ?
#9 Which way will Kangra in Himachal Pradesh go ?
#10 What about bellwhether seats in Chattisgarh (Mahasamund), Maharashtra (Ahmednagar), Punjab (Jalandher), Rajasthan (Sikar), West Bengal (Dum-dum)
#11 How many of the bellwhether seats in Orissa of Aska, Phulbani, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sundargarh will go to BJP ?
#12 Finally will any of the 4 bellwhether seats of Tamil Nadu Vellore, Chidambaram, Coimbatore, Nagappatnam fall to the AIADMK lead alliance ?

SOMNATH CHATTERJEE ask for PRAKASH KARAT RESIGNATION.
well Count SOMNATH CHATTERJEE as NEXT PRESIDENT.
For the diehard BJP supporter maybe LKA is great but for neutral folks he is not acceptable. MMS is seen as more gentle and with LKA attacking him for being weak did not help him either.
That means Namo has no chance of being an acceptable PM candidate. Maybe Shivraj Singh Chauhan is more acceptable. BJP will need a candidate like Vajpayee.
“Development does not work,
Congress uses BJP bogeyman to consolidate Muslim and Christian vote,
BJP falls for media trap and keeps quite about Hindutva,
End of day only nationalists vote for the party. Some local leaders manage to get seats for BJP from their states,”
Thats exactly true Ajay…..
What Hindutva policies did MODI, or Shivraj Chauhan or in the states ruled by BJP have undertaken , they just concentrated on development, and nothing to strengthen the hindutva forces, but look at congress ruled states every policy is targeted at Minorities to turn them into a votebank, coupled with Centers initiatives to solidify their Muslims and christian votebanks…
On the contrary BJP did not initiate one policy for the development for Hindu or nationalistic outlook..
Did they take any initiative to propagate the nagaland problem of how they demanding Christian republic of Nagaland.. no how come Hindus realize what is at stake here…
I studied in a Christian missionary school and believe me I am the one of their victim of brainwashing(though they were unsuccessful) but the attempts are there… now thats in Vijayawada in one of the reputed schools.. imagine whats the scenario in rural areas…
BJP should understand what is at stake.. it is ridicules to dream for power without having a medium to convey its message to the people
something WRONG in ELECTION COMMISSION.
Its WEBSITE EARLIER SAID RESULT OUT FOR 227 SEATS AND GIVEN THE SEAT DETAIL.
ITS now SAYS that RESULT FOR 180 SEAT??????
IS this the MAGIC of NAVIN CHAWLA
DEFEAT BJP
DEFEAT LEFT
DEFEAT LALOO
DEFEAT MULAYAM
DEFEAT MAYA
DEFEAT AMMA
DEFEAT TDP.
ALL who could be problem in congi govt?????
Dump shiv sena has to be the first step. its their dangling with pawar for a long time, thats one of main reason that caused this reverse in Maha along with MNS.
This is the right time to dump sena.
Jaya has lost three elections on a trot. tdp too has lost 4. TDP will face severe problems.
The oppostition space is vacant. BJP has to show the will.
Guys,
Everyone is upset. I think some time off will relieve our minds.
The truth today is that BJP needs to introspect, not draw knives.
Dont make any headline news for sometime now.
A bynote:
1. Why has Saurav not attacked tahira until now?
A die-hard hardcore hindu like saurav not responding to Tahira’s insults..God, I suspect something fishy. Maybe an e-mail id trace will reveal a few things.
Let us rest and meditate on the future. Lots of reasons for the future
@arjun
dont fall in trap
exactly this is wat MEDIA will lap on
WHO AFTER ADVANI
NO CONSENSUS LEADER
MODI IS AND MODI WILL BE OUR LEADER AND WE HAVE TO WORK ON THIS FROM TODAY UNLIKE POST 2004 WHEN BJP/RSS WAS FIGHTING THAT “WHO NEXT….”
Strategic Mistake : 1
It was a mistake to centre the campaign around L.K.Advani and MMS rather than making it a contest between BJP and Congress. The BJP’s “Majboot Neta.. ” slogan has backfired. I personally strongly believe in the honesty of this slogan but really what matters is perception of people at large. MMS is no doubt a weak leader but he is percieved as an honest, incoruptible, intelligent, “non-politican” and considering the general cycnism that exists in the country regarding politicans makes MMS agt least acceptable . He may not be popular like how Narendra Modi is in Gujarat but his aforemntioned qualities gave him an advantage against Advani , who is still considered by many as an “opportunist” ( Kabhi Ram , kabhi Jinnah ) . The true aam aadmi isn’t as circumspect or reflective and tends to associate a simplisitc image of everyone.
The attack should have continued to be on Congress in general.
gujarat CONGRESS won 9 seat already
@suraj baliga
So you don’t approve what Yedurappa did in karnataka ?
And i 2nd what drummasala Ji said,
We MUST do all the wrong / chanakyaniti / street-smart things that congress does without compromising on nationalism and hindutva, and this is very much possible.
We did that in Karnataka, and i think we did well there.
Yeddi did work for development, and he also played the caste card, and he also went about openly to temples and granted them funds, more freedom etc etc.
End result,
Of 4 Cong stalwarts, three managed to barely scrapped through. 2 other Congress seats were genuine wins
JDs won with record margins in 3 seats, and did even show up in other places. Two of those seats were won on “prestige” issue for HDK and his father.
BJP simply swept 10-12 seats and except 4-5, every other seat was a close fight
Lesson rom Karnataka.
Do Development,
Appease all castes,
Stay true to Hindutva platform and work for Hinduism.
Forgot to mention,
Yeddi also went to mutts of all castes and sought blessings of seers every now and then and also before elections.
Please keep in mind, Yeddi is steaming ahead full speed on development plank. Considering that he has been in power only little more than a year, I would say he is going faster than Modi (having learnt from Modi of course)
