While the Election Commission and the Uttar Pradesh Police investigate the “communal” remarks of Varun Gandhi, the ensuing Delhi based media circus should keep us entertained as real India makes up its mind on real issues.
It should not baffle anyone that Varun Gandhi should play the victimhood card in an election, after all playing victim has been the trademark of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty in soliciting votes starting with Indira Gandhi’s victimhood to Sonia Gandhi’s second sacrifice.
That the BJP should continue to indulge this other Gandhi family at the expense of negative press is baffling.
It is however heartening to note that both Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Shahnawaz Hussain have been fielded to disown Varun Gandhi’s remarks.
Mr. Advani should make a strong statement on this issue and put this controversy to rest so his spokespersons have other things to talk about to the Delhi based media and can be spared the embarassment of having to explain a Nehru-Gandhi’s victimhood.
Coming back to the subject of this post, it is interesting that the Election Commission is picking on Varun Gandhi when far worse things have been said by the Congress on communalizing the role of the Election Commision.
It is a commentary on the Delhi based media’s BJP obsessive compulsive disorder that this story has been completely ignored.
On 15th March 2009 the Congress Party organized a blatantly communal event in Chandigarh.
The event was organized in a Mosque, Jama Masjid Sector 20 to be precise.
The organizers of the event left no one in doubt on the communal intentions of the event.
In a bid to woo the Muslim community ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had organised a rally highlighting its secular credentials. Nearly 23 Muslim organisations from the city have also extended their support to the party.
Addressing the event were AICC General Secretary Mohsina Kidwai and Chairman of All India Congress Committee Minority Cell Imraan Kidwai.
Both the Kidwai’s speeches were markedly communal in nature but Mr. Imraan Kidwai’s remarks should be of specific interest to the Election Commission for he not just challenged the Constitutional Role of the Election Commission but sought to communalize it through a Fatwa.
Imraan Kidwai, chairman of the All India Congress Community, Minority Cell, said that if he had the power, he would issue a fatwa asking Muslims to abstain from joining the BJP. He said the Congress had never tried to change the Muslim personnel law.
Now that was just the media’s watered down version for Mr. Kidwai’s speech also dwelt on atrocities on Muslims by BJP Governments.
Does the Congress Party have the conviction to own up to its faith in Fatwas and Muslim Fundamentalist Clergy to subordinate the Election Commission and the Constitution ?
Will the Election Commission in the interest of Dharma initiate action against Mr. Imraan Kidwai and the Congress Party for this for this blatant attempt at voter intimidation through the threat of Fatwa via Muslim Fundamentalist Clergy ?

VOTE FOR BJP.
The curious case of Director General of Police S S P Yadav embarking on a foreign junket in the midst of the elections process has taken a new turn with the discovery that he had not sought any permission from the Election Commission before leaving for Singapore. Chief Election Officer Subba Rao confirmed to TOI that Yadav had asked for no approval and said that now he has informed Election Commissioners in Delhi about this development.
The EC is already seized of a complaint against Yadav that he praised the Rajasekhara Reddy government in a meeting after the election code was set into motion. Opposition parties led by the TDP want Yadav removed and EC is expected to decide on the matter by Wednesday.
Though official sources – batting for Yadav -tried to argue that prior permission of the EC was not required for the trip, police officials as well as senior IAS officers were aghast to hear that Yadav had left for Singapore to attend a conference. ” He is the main man responsible for upkeep of law and order and he goes away abroad to attend a conference. This is not as per protocol and norms,” said a top secretary of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The trip had been cleared by the Andhra Pradesh government many weeks ago but senior officers said that the moment the election code came into operation, Yadav should have voluntarily cancelled the trip.
” We are being denied leave for as little as 2 days on the grounds that the election process has been kicked off and here our boss goes on a junket. How great !” remarked a middle ranking police official reflecting the mood of bewilderment in the state police force.
Many police officials also found fault with the Election Commission for not taking a quick decision on Yadav. The ECs – on a trip to Hyderabad on Friday- had heard the opposition parties which had given them a tape containing evidence of Yadav praising the chief minister and also the version of Yadav himself.
Interestingly two years ago the then police commissioner of Chennai – Nataraj- was ordered to be removed – because on international women’s day he was quoted saying that Jayalalitha ( then chief minister) was the epitome of Indian womanhood (or something to that effect). The police commissioner did not make a suo motu remark, he said so when a media person asked him what he though of Jayalalithaa as a woman. ” This being the case, the EC is bound to remove Yadav as DGP for the period of the elections.”
Removing controversial DGPs during election time is not unusual in India. For instance DGP of Gujarat P C Pande was removed by the EC because he was known to be close to Narendra Modi.
Yadav, an IPS officer of the 1972 batch with a none too great career to boast off was made the top police official in AP, in November 2007. He superseded others to make it to this post. Yadav’s tenure has not been sans controversies and with his running battle with the additional director general of intelligence, officers of the IPS cadre have got divided into groups.
It is a little hard to figure out where to post comments.
Varun Gandhi Jiyo mere yaar…..
when OMAR ABDULLAH say in Parliament “I AM A MUSLIM” then whole MEDIA Claps…..
When Varun says “I AM PROUD HINDU” he is slapped with FIR,and term Communal…..
had EC slapped FIR against Digvijay singh for saying “HINDU TERROR”
Why Mayawati and Mulayam refuse to comment on this in a big way, there in lies the clue for BJP to ponder and give a measured response.
Guys,
We should seriously get a decent lawyer to start taking all these pseudo secular guys to court. How come all the rules are applied only to hindus. i just dont understand why the BJP is so defensive? It is amazing.
Looks like Varun Gandhi is getting popular because of this media hype. Apparently, the media does not like it when he says I am a Hindu.
The right strategy for the BJP is to dissociate from the remarks and let EC take any action.
If they take action, they will lose Hindu votes. They have to drag their feet by saying that they are examining the tapes etc.
Why no mention that he was speaking against the M inority rapists?
With the kind of response Varun is getting, looks like this episode will backfire on the pseudos and BJP will get a strong leader in UP.
Fair to say that Varun is more popular than Rahul.
There is also a serious possibility of doctored tapes as Varun has mentioned.
Yes, me too agree that this is going to backfire.
I am reading some comments in rediff and they all are saying they will support Varun. Something goes like this …
“Congress is now on the back foot. If they arrest Varun, then he becomes an overnight hero. They have fallen in their own dug pit.”
Also, when morons like Tiwari and Sibal of congress says Varun should be removed then BJP should question why Antulay is not removed for his anti-national remarks. Anything is ok if it is done by secular congress. I am glad Varun spoke up. I get a feeling that it won’t affect BJP by anything with Varun’s comment and only the so-called elite secular people will bat for this idiotic media propaganda and that too only some of them.
Yossarin, Can you provide your thoughts on how this Varun Gandhi episode will affect the BJP’s electoral prospects.
Also, any inside scoop on the “rift” issue.
Uma is being brought in at this time to needle AJ.
is cutting hand of “asamajik tatua” who had raped 3 minor girl is COMMUNAL.
qUESTION IS WHY police of Mayawati not took action against those culprit???
it will be important to know if those 3 girls who were raped and that was reffered by Varun Gandhi belongs to DALIT????
RAHUL GANDHI ka phat gaya dhol AUR BAN GAYA ZERO,VARUN Gandhi ban gaya HERO
Modiji in Pune
wwwdotyoutubedotcom/watch?v=GfgfAQxdyG8&feature=channel_page
Arjun – dont much about the internal rift, I am just speculating as an observer. As far as electoral prospects go I think it will be inconsequential just like the merchant of death episode. The sooner party gets this over with the better from a media perception standpoint.
Yes, Varun is getting lot of support. See the reader’s comment in this marathi news. 99% supported Varun. If he sticks to his stand, this will surely backfire on pseudos.
http://beta.esakal.com/2009/03/18125802/Homevarun-refuses-to-apologis.html
Also, BJP can groom Varun as a UP leader and keep target time of 10 years from now.
YOSS
your take on congress “ground reality” on Uttarpradesh,Bihar which accounts 120 seats.
UP is more important as we were told that Congress in resurgent mode after RAHUL Gandhi???
Drummasala – Dont get me wrong here. Varun Gandhi’s speeches were wrong, period. I strongly feel this was a calculated gamble to position himself in the manner you have suggested and this was an extremely cynical way to do it. When I had called for an Obama in UP for the BJP this was not what I had in mind. I als feel he has been propped up by a faction and that makes it all the more distressing. It is simply not acceptable to say he was speaking for Hindu frustration. Where was he when the incidents of rape and rioting took place. Why did he not show leadership in getting Justice to work in that part of UP by building the pressure of public opinion on Mayawati ?
There are no shortcuts to becoming a leader. It takes hard work. He should have demonstrated far greater investment in making the system work rather than hog the headlines with emotional statements on why the system was unfair and he was the answer.
That is typical Nehru-Gandhi opportunistic politics of victimhood.
I read somewhere that even Bal Thakre has come out in support of Varun. I think his speech may galvanize Hindu votebank. Only thing is, BJP should not go on backfoot. There is nothing to lose.
Yoss, I can understand your view point. But congress does the same thing. What was Antulay’s remark about. It was targetted towards certain votebank. It is same here. Again, I don’t know what Varun said because it was blurred out. If he is wrong, punish him…but also punish other ’secular’ leaders. It should be same yardstick for everybody.
yoss
i disagree with you.
ok i agree varun could have avoided these statement, but this CD is doctored is also a fact.
varun has said that he will take the matter to legal conclusion is a welcome step.
IT was an conspiracy of Pseudo Media and they themself has got trapped.
offcourse there will be no shortcut for Varun and this is first election for him and nobody claiming that now he be PM of country.
VARUN will have to prove and his exam starts now.
Drummasala – yep but Congess doing it doesnt make it right, what difference will there be if the BJP is the Congress’ B-Team, people will go for the real thing
there has to be same yardstick and all of us should hold the media and the EC to fire for not doing that.
Prashant – Leaving aside the question that the CD was doctored. The fact that he did not lead an agitation whent the violence occured but is playing Hindu anger when elections are around, makes him wrong.
Yoss, it is always good to be ideal. But you cannot remain so if your surrounding is not. This is the time to save the country from CON…and not to be ideal.
Holding media responsible…do you really think media is innocent and they are just reporting. No Yoss..they are one of the foot soldiers of CON.
i agree that when election is around that this could have been avoided….but then i will say that varun has been trapped by Congress/Media in similar way as ABHIMANYU in Mahabharata.
I support varun who has said that Truth must be out and if this CD is doctored than will that MEDIA be slapped with FIR for disturbing the communal harmany that too during election.
WHERE WAS THAT CD for 15 days????
we know well how CD were tampered by MEDIA during Vote for cash scam
Balaji,
This is your comment on the other offstumped site regarding the new catch phrase on Advani site
“sounds like Mccain’s “Country First”. Advaniji and BJP would do well to come up with slogans in Indian languages. ‘Ek kaam Desh ka naam’ means a lot more than a bunch of english words.”
FYI Balaji – This is closer to the core ethos of Indian army than as you point out to Mccain. What a pity that as soon as some slogan is heard they start searching for a parallel with something American.
indianarmy.nic.in/index_ethos.htm
“The safety, honour and welfare of your country comes first always and every time.
The honour, welfare and comfort of the men you command come next.
Your own ease, comfort and safety come last
always and every time.”
drummasala
I think you are correct. To me CONgress and Commies and MSM fight this election as a war. They will do anything to stop BJP. So our side should not be worried about the niceties. They should hit back hard at CONgress and media. In an ideal world we can fight these elections on issues and be nice to each other. But unfortunately this is not ideal world and we are fighting for India so we should use all the tactics to achieve our goal. May be once BJP comes back to power then the next election could be different when everybody plays by the rule.
Arjun,
I can tell whata few of my delhi friends told me on rift.
They feel that this started with the delhi elections. There were serious attempts made to get Jaitley to state politics for next five years which would have meant he wont be in charge of elections. Then there was lot of undercutting involved in candidates and cm post to ensure that delhi elections headed by jaitley was messed up to ensure his reputation goes and reduce chances of his becoming election management chief.
Then again when candidates were chosen for UP 2009 a state which jaitley heads, a a good return in which would mean jaitley getting prominence was being undermined. A final straw was appointment of this fellow without consultation with AJ even though he was the overall head for lection management. As per TOI advani has gone on record that he was only informed after appointment not consulted.
And now Uma for whom there was many attemt made to get her back a monthe or more ago by chief was said to have been resisted by Advani himself. Now releasing a letter at this time, esp asking AJ to drop anger and work for the party, in a manner that even an outcast she was prepared to work for Advani and thereby painting AJ as a villain is also seen as handiwork of the chief.
I cannot vouch for this info and you make your decision.
There is man claiming he is ready to do anything party orders. The only solution is for Advani ji and RSS to order Mittal to resign. The party president or jaitley cannot be seen going back.
But I had posted that ET link which said this guy was not ready to do so. Advani ji has the authority as per RSS diktat as far as elections is concerned. So it is time he stamps his authority.
As long as all other works except CEC keeps going fine it should not be a problem. It is better to give all candidate selection decision to Advani ji and he can decide based on discussions with people he feel is best suited to give him ground realities and strategies.
But sooner this episode comes to end the good, as media circus will come to end and will have to look for fodder elsewhere and also morale of cadre wont go down
Yoss anyway to get the comments here on RSS?
As per the advocate posting in forum and this report
Despite stupendous success of the Vijay Shankalp rally addressed by Sushma Swaraj here Monday
the rally is a success. The advocate wants the party to keep up the fervour and not loose steam. 30 odd seats must be BJP target.
But here is the reason why BJP brought the situation to this level. Who all were central observers during this time must be kicked
The issue of party’s chief ministerial candidate was raised at the Monday media conference of Swaraj who clarified that such decisions are taken by the BJP parliamentary board. She also quoted that Uttarakhand had gone to polls without projecting a chief ministerial candidate and the party won the election.
The faction-ridden BJP has as many as five groups and none of the groups is ready to accept a common candidate as their leader. This is precisely the reason for which the party had to forgo the deputy chief minister post even though Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was ready for it after coming to power in 2000. The BJP has a deputy chief minister in Bihar where it is having an alliance with the Janata Dal (United).
Earlier, the party had successfully bargained for deputy CM’s post in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Sources in the BJP said that projecting a chief ministerial candidate at this juncture will further divide the party which is now united, thanks to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
source n IE
NR,
I absolutely agree with what you have said. RS is trying to undercut AJ big time and hurting the party. It is clear who is needed more by the party.
Namo came out in Jaitley’s support and said that the action was wrong and the reaction is right.
The reason why Mittal is not resigning is because Rajnath must be telling him not to resign so that an issue is created and Jaitley is made to look bad.
The question is how come RSS still continues to support this guy whose primary interest seems to be propping himself up and undercutting people like Modi and Jaitley.
Who can take BJP to greater heights? Jaitley or Rajnath. It is for BJP and RSS to decide.
But if a guy like Rajnath is allowed to continue, even diehards like me will lose interest in the BJP.
Rajnath Singh did not want to put Jaitley in charge of Gujarat polls. Modi had to fight for it.
He did not want to put Jaitley in charge of Karnataka, Yeduyirappa had to fight for it.
I have been reading a lot of negative reports on this guy and the current incident clearly shows who the villian is.
Given the fact that Rajnath Singh is not a mass leader, not a strategist, how the hell is he able to pull this off.
Now last year when Advani ji was to adsress a series of metings, before it started govt met and talked of increased threat. Here they go again. But this time the threat to Namo and Advani ji is very much high as anything to them will mean emotion surge across country.
Instead of caution, no to IPL, govt must be prepared to do its job in a professional manner.
The moment any threat comes this govt seems to go in for retreat, instead of taking head on and dismantling it.
Certainly, we would hope that those things (bringing perpetrators to justice and dismantling terror infrastructure) would happen and happen as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to encourage that process,” Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon had told reporters here Tuesday.
“We will continue down that road with whoever is willing to help us to achieve our goal,” Menon said.
What kind of an attitude is this. Are we hoping for the devil to take action against itself. Are we spineless and need other help?
Shame on the govt? How does it claim to be a superpower if it cant be incharge of its own security and deoends on others.
Please read that menon statement after this to get context.
New Delhi believes that the political turmoil in Pakistan should not distract from the process of bringing the perpetrators of the Mumbai atrocity to justice.
So do no karma and wait for the fruit, seems to be line of this govt, instead of do karma without thinking of fruit.
Arjun probable reason, is no longer the BJP is disciplined and has become power hungry. It is no longer working based on Indian family ethos where the head of the family consults its members on various options and finally takes a decision, one which everyone obeys wholeheartedly without questioning.
Such a system had ensured that undercutting was less to a great extent.
If even RSS efforts dont bear fruit, that tells the state of the party
The rot seems to have spread to RSS as well as seen from Orissa.
Congress culture seems to be replacing BJP culture and this trend must be halted to be the true part with a difference.
One sincerely hopes that candidates have been chosen based on winnability due to acceptability to people and not on personal preferences. No goof up can be done esp on sure seats and tight seats.
At last comes the transfer orders for andhra dgp
NEW DELHI: In a reversal of roles, the CPM on Wednesday did not rule out taking Congress help in the formation of an alternative secular
government after the Lok Sabha elections.
“Well, we can do business with them (Congress). We can ask them to support an alternative government. It is possible,” CPM general secretary Prakash Karat said.
timesofindia.indiatimes.com/India/Congress-can-support-alternative-secular-government-Karat/articleshow/4283463.cms
The cat is out of bag. We are just one and the same teams- pseudo teams to fool people just as surrogate candidates to fool EC on money spent
Yossarin,
What happened to live reports space.
Yoss,
please please ask the BJP leadership to wake up and do something for UP. Maya’s popularity is on the decline. If they find good issues, I am sure they can win in the urban areas at least.
They should focus on IT and creating IT jobs in at least Lucknow, Kanpur, maybe Varanasi, Agra and Meerut. Its a shame that with premier institutes like IITK and IIML , there are no proper jobs.
They can harp on the emotional issue of youngsters having to migrate south to work. Let them tell people that they will work to bring their children back.
Some good news from AP. One more seat most likely in BJP kitty from Hindupur in Rayalseema region of AP.
greatandhra.com/ganews/viewnews.php?id=13877&scat=39
this blog I guess is that of an ardent supporter of congress and especially chief minister YSR. The article is in English and you all will be heartened to read this one. I sincerely hope BJP promotes people like these.
sorry, I geezed this link from another site which I very recently came across, but could not acknowledge. Here it is…

Yoss, NEED clarification.
From now on is this going to be your regular site?
Bhavananda – This site is for the campaign season only between now and May 16th. Offstumped on INI will continue to host regular commentary on issues of national interest as before unrelated to the elections.

What a massive crowd for Modi’s Pune rally..cool
Modi was saying about illegal Bangladeshi people. I think it was a indirect message for Punekars and Marathis to act against Bangladeshis instead of UP/Biharis.
Drummasala and Offstumped:
IMHO – this was a tactical ploy and a quickie. Right and wrong are matters of perception. If you read his comments in ELM, they are/might be outrageous. But, if you live there, being persecuted by the illegals, with arms from Nepal, cows slaughtered, temples destroyed – it might makes better sense. Of course, he could have done something then – but he’s a politician after all. And, clever too unlike Rahul baba.
Whether he can get away with it, we have to see. But, to say right or wrong – let us not forget that our own NaMo used the Miya word too often. And, now all everyone can say is NaMo Namahah !
Modi thrashing again. The shrill is increasing. Now after hitler, he is being labelled another sanjay gandhi.

Ok did not notice ur twitter.
RSS not to mediate in the feud
MUMBAI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) seems to be in no mood to oblige BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley in his tug of war with the party
president Rajnath Singh.
Mr Jaitley, upset over an appointment of businessman-turned-politician Sudhangshu Mittal as co-incharge of north eastern states, has stayed away from the BJP’s central election committee meetings twice in the past week. Though Mr Jaitley wants Mr Mittal’s removal before he resumes his duties, the party leadership, so far, has not paid heed to his threats.
There were reports that the Sangh bosses have stepped in to resolve the crisis. However, the RSS has denied any such move. “It’s the BJP’s internal matter where in the Sangh doesn’t have any role to play,” was the straitjacket reply from Manmohan Vaidya, the Sangh’s official spokesperson, when asked to comment on Jaitely-Rajnath feud. According to Mr Vaidya, the BJP “understands the exigency of the situation and is fully capable of resolving the crisis, if any”. He declined to comment further on the issue.
However, another top RSS office bearer, a veteran of many fire-fighting missions in the saffron camp, talking to ET on condition of anonymity, gave enough indications of the Sangh’s disenchantment with Mr Jaitley. “Over 10 senior BJP leaders from across the states, including Gujarat where he was in-charge, have expressed their anguish over Mr Jaitley’s behaviour,” he said. “Many others too have pointed out his (Mr Jaitley’s) ‘attitude’,” he said.
He admitted that the Sangh may not like to support someone like Mr Mittal, but there is growing anger against Mr Jaitley.
A BJP MLA from Maharashtra concurred with the Pariwar’s perception of Mr Jaitley. “I, myself, had a tough time dealing with Mr Jaitely. He might have been successful in a few elections, but many party colleagues have found his behaviour undemocratic,” he said.
However, the RSS feels that Mr Jaitely should have observed restrain while protesting against Mr Singh. “Besides boycotting the election committee meet, Mr Jaitley camp leaked the news of his demand to sack Mr Mittal to the media. This has left no room for any compromise,” the RSS leader pointed out. “By doing this Mr Jaitley put his interests before the party’s. This is unacceptable to the Sangh.”
Orissa may throw a hung Assembly
BHUBANESWAR: The three-way battle of the ballots in Orissa may throw a hung Assembly, going by the voting trends of the past polls with no party
emerging a clear winner.
Logically speaking, the Congress should have benefited due to the three-cornered contests. However, the party may not be able to emerge a clear winner due to inner squabbles within the beleaguered party, political analysts said here.
Orissa is one of the first states in the country to experiment with coalition governments. With hung assemblies thrown up after most elections, coalition governments in Orissa were the norm in 1950s and 1960s but the 11-year-old BJD-BJP alliance, which ended last week, was the longest.
The first coalition government in the state was formed in May 1959 when Congress (after winning 56 of the 140 seats), which had earlier cobbled a majority in the House with the help of smaller parties and Independents, found the going tough.
In 1990, riding the anti-Congress wave, Janata Dal, which had entered into an alliance with Left parties, swept the polls by garnering 53.69% of votes while Congress just managed to hold on to its 30% votes. BJP began its innings with 3.56% votes only. But in 1995, the late Biju Patnaik went all alone and lost due to the rise of BJP, which polled 7.88% of votes.
BJP has grown rapidly since 1990s, more by consolidating the anti-Congress political forces. BJD was launched in December 1997 when a large chunk of members of Janata Dal(S) broke away following the death of the legendary Biju Patnaik.
BJD quickly decided that rather than compete with BJP for Opposition space, it could gain by aligning with the party. The alliance virtually struck gold by winning a majority of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in 1998, 1999 and 2004 elections and forming the government twice after the assembly polls in 2000 and 2004, cornering 106 and 93 of the 147 seats.
In the last Assembly election, the win-loss margin was less than 2000 votes in 22 constituencies. In 2000, BJP s vote ratio was 18.2% which came down to 17.11% in 2004. And for BJD it was 29.4% and 27.36% respectively. These figures reveal that in 2004 BJD lost 2% and BJP 1% of votes. It will be trouble for Naveen if this 2% vote margin goes up to 10%.
The political equations of 2004 and 2009 are different. There is neither UPA nor NDA. In the last two polls, BJP had fought under Naveen s leadership. Now it has to fight alone. Congress now has a new leadership combination whose popularity is yet to be tested.
If there is a double-digit swing against Naveen, that will be real anti-incumbency. In a triangular fight, Orissa is destined to enter into political instability after three decades of stable governments, says Surya Narayan Mishra, professor of political science, Utkal University.
Sorry Jiggs –
I thought u were looking for some opinion on BJP in Mumbai – and it took me this while for reacting since I had to figute out how to go to the new sire.
Anyways, the feeling has always been that BJP will – one day – prevail over Sena. It could be because this “one man show” party splits and chunk of people come to BJP, its political power fades due to too much regional emotive issues or something else.
So, yes, the feeling is Pro-BJP and mixed about sena.
And yes, even when we have 100% BJP candidates one day in M’rashtra – how about candidate selection? I am shocked to see Ram Naik nominated again – how long can he keep on harping Mumbai North? Wait till Anna Joshi returns to Pune. . . my god!
LKA writes about constitunecy wise anti incumbancy – this is why it comes. . . old wine!
Many freinds in Borivli are openly ridiculing his candidature!!
Please look at the video on IBNpolitics.com by the title “Jaitley’s Nemesis says all’s well in BJP”.
I like when he says to Mr Sirdesai “Rajdeep, have u called Jaitley and asked him why he is not attending? then I will answer your questions”. . .
When Prime Minister ManMohini Singh said muslim community have first right for national resources nobody said it is communalism!Indian minoritism, secularims Human rights and freedom of expression changes its colour when it comes to Hindu cause. Varun Gandhi speech is overblown by media just like Mlore pub attack. RamSenawalle saved some teenage girls from being raped and from religious conversion
congress sonia raul mulayam lalu Karunanidi HD Devegouda mafia communist all play minority politics to create xian and muslim votebank these secular bregades do not want to say a word Hindus.IF Varun /bjp plays hindu card how it come hate campigan or against minorities
Yogesh….
Man….people are openly saying that the alternative for the CON party is only BJP.
Why is BJP cheating us?
I countered them by telling, what happens if people like Suresh Prabhu or Anand Geetey are standing form Mumbai, they were clueless on how to answer me.
I am getting worried, if people start to pussyfoot now, that Milind will win again from South.
I agree with you re. Ram Naik, Anna Joshi. My pals in Borivli are hopping mad at the prospect of Ram Naik, they agree that he has done a stellar job through out his career, however, they say the old man wont last the term!!!!!!!
They want younger faces, they say that in Borivli itself, they have pool of hard working, honest party workers, why not them?????
I countered all this by telling them that vote for the party and not individuals, my goodness, the amount of abuses that were hurled at me, I thought I did drown in em
however, I still feel that suburbs are cent percent NDA, what do you say?
This Bombay Metro Region will record atleast 80 to 85 % turnout , What do you say?
Doke Phirla aahe majha, aata!!!!!
Folx…
On the other hand, I am increasingly getting confident that NDA will form the next government.
I took venkatesh’s advice and have been doing rounds of the SECULAR websites and reading comments.
I am so happy when people show the finger at the mere mention of anything that is secular.
Everybody wants the BJP, the CON party and the 3 rd front are getting the business.
I confident, that we shall be in power come May 16
BTW, vote4congress2009.blogspot.com has only few visitors from our group, how come?
Guys….go over there and speak your mind.
Lets take take the fight to the enemy.
Another, thing I saw the video of varun Gandhi’s speech. Although he denies saying all this.
I din’t find anything objectionable.
The “K” word which is the bone of contention is frequently used in Bombay ( Yogesh will confirm this). I care a fig if some junkies feel offended.
What he said is perfect, though I am very annoyed with the CHOICE OF WORDS PUT IN BY THE BJP. I am not saying that back him up completely, but they could have just remained silent and not opened at all. Only Venkiah had the decency to say ” The animosity in the gandhi family is well known”. This for me is an astute statement.
Varun rocks, Man the loud and Long JAI SHRI RAM, has earned him a new fan in me.
VARUN GANDHI AAGE BADHO HUM TUMHARE SAATH HAI!
Jiggs,
The BJP is coming back and I dont see anything that can stop them. They are in a much better position than the UPA and my intuition is telling me that they are playing cards close to the chest. Lets look at the BIMARU states the Congress is going to be wiped out everywhere with the exception of perhaps rajasthan where I think it will not do as well as the assembly but wont be wiped out.In the north and northwest, they will get their asses kicked. In odisha, it will probably be a three way split. Northeast Assam will go NDA. Chattisgarh and Jharkhand will be BJP all the way. In my janmbhoomi Maharashtra, I am sure congress-NCP will get wiped out, just because of the Negative vote against them and the Mumbai attacks. Look at the crowds NaMo is drawing. I have not seen such crowds in my life.
Mumbaiites, I am confident will vote against the Congress- NCP, they iunderstimate the anger in Mahrashtra.
In my karmbhoomi, karnataka, it is BJP all the way. Senior members in my family whom I can best call mild, are pissed with the conversion efforts and have promised to vote for the BJP, even if they field a donkey, pub wars and pink chaddi campaign notwithstanding. In AP, there is no way the congress can do as well as last time. My feeling is that there is some tacit understanding between Naidu, PRP and BJP and this will become clearer after the elections. If the BJP can spoil AP for Congress, that will be great. In TN, the DMK is getting kicked out and AMMA is coming back. Kerala and WB, congress will do better. My guess is that the BJP will get 160 to 180 seats and the congress will get a 100 at best. In that case, AMMA, Trinamool congress and CBN/PRP and JDU will join the NDA camp. Guys increasingly, in my view there is no hung parliament, it is going to be a comfortable NDA journey. I hope I can savour the commie and congi asses kicked for the next 5 years.

Love it!
Garv se kaho hum Hindu hain

Arjun,
Rift game looks over. So its onward march on.
Venkatesh,
TN is still not ou of congress hands. There is still possibility of UPA cobbling up 25 seats. Which way the tide swings depends on alliances. But be sure congress tally of 10 from state will be reduced drastically.
Tension returned to Kandhamal, just weeks ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, as a senior RSS leader Prabhat Panigrahi was killed by suspected Maoists at Rudiguma village in riot-torn Kandhamal district in the wee hours today. Locals were outraged over this incident and blocked roads between Kotagada and Rudiguma by putting tree logs. Situation is tense, but under control, according to the police.
Mr. Prabhat Panigrahi was arrested during the Kandhamal violence and was released on bail on March 14. His killing sent shock wave among the BJP, VHP and RSS cadres, who are on the hit list of a group of Maoists that support Christian community
NR,
Maybe. My general drift is that the BJP will be the single largest party and the fence sitters will move where the power is. I dont profess any psephological skills, I am just talking big numbers, based on what I see and read and discuss with people. I can reasonably bet that I will be closer to the mark than the IBNs and reuters of the world, who seem to be passionate about getting things wrong.
Jai Shree Ram (balaji wondered in some post why Varun said jai shree ram and not Jai Bharat; my riposte; he is a hindu should he say Allah hu Akbar)And Jai shree ram is not antithetical to idea of Jai Bharat

NR…
UPA swinging it in TN ???????
Why?????
Can you elaborate.
Thanks
Jiggs,
Doke Shaant thewa!
Yes, there is a lot of anger by common man in suburbs of Mumbai. . . and only thing that can now stop BJP-SS is too many summer vacationeering people of middle class in Apr-May. The rest, there may be missing in voter’s list and new reason our Congressi CEC will give is delimitation!! Thats a watchout.
I als learnt Raj is giving Tacit support to BJP in afew seats.
Lot of things making me happy now –
1. Rajnath – Jaitley meet
2. Uma back to BJP (whatever 0.05% vote she brings is welcome)
3. ToI article realising TN, Andhra, WB and Kerala only places where Congress can do better
4. JMM themselves unhappy of tie-up w Congress
5. Modi replaces > 80% of Gujarat candidates showing the way
6. Article in ToI about Modi today being most potent brew in RSS
7. last and not the least – its that happy feeling when u c Rajdeep being shut-up by anyone – in this case Mittal in an interview on IBN live!
Jiggs and others,
Please dont use reply button to comments. Comments ar no longer in a single page and one may not end up reading it. I actually missed your comment addressed at me but I checked again as it did not tally with recent comment. But that was because I had checked the site recently,so I knew it.
As far as your question on TN,
I still dont see state voting analytucally.
If it was cong+dmk against admk combine i would have said admk combine 25 and dmk 15.
but you dont know where pmk is going to land.
Majority of people see dmk having delivered on their promise in 2006 assembly elections still- read freebies. Second Azhagiri has decided to personally jump into election fray to counter maran-stalin combine at centre and wants to win more no of seats under his influence than no of seats maran stalin combine wins.
Admk belt is in south TN where azhagiri muscle money power is. in the past he had been alleged defeating many of dmk candidates.
Maran is seen to have delivered during his time. Similarly PMK rail Mosr is also seen to have delivered by creating a new division, lot of projects. When educated idiots think Baalu has delivered think of others. Lots of new buses, routes have been introduced. Bus charges remain the lowest in country. Massive river interlinking projectshave been launched though people would not have seen its end results.
Chennai has seen many flyovers and other works which was never seen during admk period. These were specifically aimed at as chennai for first time in 2006 slipped out of dmk hands. So overall people see dmk to have delivered on lot of promises and also done things which were lacking in admk terms.
lets see wat jaya did during these three years. She has been most of the time not even in capital and in her farm estate in ooty and giving statements from there not making connect with people. there were no protest on any of the issue. She is still not going all out on any issues.
What is seen against dmk is there have been massive power cuts, something unprecedented in last 9 years and power is now seen to be better in admk period. law and order is at its worst all over the state. Come summer may 13 power is going to be an issue.
It is actually the projected media which is making the dmk think they are on sticky wicket. DMK is in this position more due to congress performance. Price raise, not lowering of fuel price all has only resulted in the anger and recovery of admk.
So far no agri union has revolted against dmk which they do everytime against a ruling party.
Now come to this issue of Srilanka. It is still anyones guess how this is going to affect voters decision. But majority see it as innocent people dying for sake of Sonia personal revenge. There are also quite a few who feel that for sake of clinging on to power in tn(dmk govt is minority, needs inc to stay), dmk betrayed their trust by not pulling out when needed or using influence to stop it.
So all issue wise there is spent up anger against congress.
Will the SL issue end up helping admk. Traditionally admk has taken a right anti ltte stand, though not against innocent tamil, people see it that way. So one is not sure if those votes will end up in her kitty.
The three parties at forefront of the issue are MDMK,PMK,VCK. Of this MDMK is with admk, will surely get those votes if any wherever it stands. But it has lost many of its main leaders and jaya is just not willing to accomodate more than 3 seats to him.
VCK, was opposed tooth and nail by congress as they were burning congress offices, issuing threat letters. But it has decided to join DMK-UPA. PMK too may join fray. Will their acion make them to loose credibility on the sl issue or end up sill getting those votes is a question.
there is every possibilty of pmk splitting if remaining in UPA.
Now there is this joker party called dmdk. He gets most of his votes from admk areas by projecting him black mgr. The sl votes not willing to buy jaya may end up with him if he contests alone. He will undercut pro jaya votes and also take away a few anti congress, anti dmk votes, which would have otherwise gone to admk.
He will also undercut in areas where pmk has stronghold. In pmk areas, admk is weak and parties like vck dmk and congress have good influence.
In north tn it is complete stronghold of pmk, dmk with congress chipping in a decent percentage. In west TN all parties have influence- cpm, cpi, admk, pmk congress, dmk, so it is tough to call, but still the textile zone would go with cpm, admk this time due to the problems they are facing.
So overall if congress manages to get pmk into its fold and gets dmdk to contest alone, it can still manage to scrape through with 22-23 seats.
But last time congress had won 10/10 seats out of 40. This time they want 12. Exoect them to loose a majority of them. i will be surprised if they win 5. That total of 23-25 a major chunk would be dmk and pmk and not congress.
If I was karuna, i will do the same thing lalu did. give them not more than 7 seats. Dmk does not realize that congress is the burden. Congress seems to be thinking that dmk is the one under trouble. its calculation are wrong.
Thats why i said there is still possibility of UPA ending up with 22-25 seats but expect congress to loose.
Even if PMK was with UPa and wins 6 seats but there is more chance of BJP coming to power, he will make the jump.
Senior leaders of PMK, cadre and senior ramdoss want to align with admk. But health minister wants upa as he feels they may come to power based on surveys and therefore he has more chances of retaining his ministership.
If PMK ends on admk side, its 28 to admk combine and out of the remaining 12 probably 1-2 is congress tally.
Also many expect dmk to undercut many congress consti, as more congress depends on allies, the easier it is for karuna to run govt in tn. So they want Congress tally to be less. Otherwise in 2011 election congress will demand more assembly seats like it got 48 in 2006.
Its a complicated affair in TN still. thats why TN is the only state where bjp has not announced candidates.
So overall in South congress is expected to gain only in kerala but losses from ap and tn will more than compensate it. i hope kerala delivers a divided verdict with 10 each. So with north belt in the loses category, it is only expected to slide from previous total. Any analyst saying congress will get 145 seats is out of world.
I hope I have given you a detailed reply
Atlast BJP wakes up on fatwa issue, complains to ec with a cd.
sindhtoday.net/south-asia/76650.htm
but question is if EC will act as fast as in Varun Case and register FIR against him.
It is unlikely that the EC will take any action against the Kidwais because thanks to Nehru the original communalist of independent India, every institution has been subverted.
Sri BS Yeddyurappa’s blog: “I’m a true son of the soil”–

The Opposition is in a panic in Karnataka. They feel threatened by the success of the BJP in my state.
The BJP, which had only 2 seats in the Karnataka Assembly in 1985, has grown steadily every year. In the 2004 Assembly elections, it won 79 seats.
I created history by bringing the BJP to power on its own 10 months ago. Let’s not forget that this is the first-ever BJP government in the South.
I am not an English-speaking, elite politician. But I know the pulse of the people and what they actually want. I am a son of the soil. A real one at that, and not a fake!
The BJP won five seats in the recent by-elections, taking the strength of the party to 115 seats in our 224-member Assembly.
