The Al-Qaeda video attributed to the so called number 3 Mustafa Al Abu Yazid must be viewed with suspicion for a variety of reasons. MK Bhadrakumar lays out quite a few on Rediff.
But the most important reason why this tape’s authenticity must be doubted is the modus operandi by which the tape has been released. It doesnt quite fit the manner in which most recent tapes attributed to other Qaeda figures have been released.
This post by B. Raman on an earlier video released by Ansar Al Mujahideen on Al Qaeda in the Maldives is a good example of the typical manner of release of these kinds of videos.
Interestingly, the teaser appears to be an indigenous product. It was seeded in 3 file formats (WMV, MP4 and FLV) and 4 sizes across 23 sites, including rapidshare.com, zshare.net, megaupload.com, badongo.com, and archive.org. The archive.org location appears to be the master distribution point and is registered to a false e-mail address “walad99@spambog.net.” It also contains documents with keywords related to travel and tourism, which is the main source of income for the country and the main issue of contention for Maldivian militants.
Laura Mansfield has more on other recent Al-Sahab videos released as recently where she refers to the method of release.
The video was announced on jihadist forums in the normal pattern that is seen for videos from the group
as was the most recent Zawahiri video on Gaza in which he was critical of US President Barak Obama.
The puzzling thing is the Yazid video finds no mention anywhere in these fora or sites.
None of this means the Mumbai Attacks do not have a pan-Jihad angle to them.
But there is more to this video than meets the eye, perhaps the Pakistani ISI dirty tricks department is at work here ?

Such links are good, we need to know what bag of lies the opposite side is cooking up. By looks of the article, I doubt even if the author has read it.

Fox News in US cut many leftist outlets to size, though their quality leaves a lot to be desired.
Regional media has reasonable right wing influence. Couple of good right wing national channels in Hindi and English will go a long way in reducing effect of Bharkas and Surdesais.
