An Open Letter to the “Consortium of Pub Going, Loose and Forward Women“.
Al-Qaeda’s number 3 Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid has just declared War on your favorite watering holes and believe me he means it. If you are still in doubt of the safety of the sanctum santorum of the Pubs of Bangalore, you just have to visit the blood stained walls of Cafe Leopold in downtown Mumbai.
So whether you like it or not Abu Al-Yazid is coming. From NASA to the Night Watchman, Brigade Road to the Residency Road, nothing is going to be safe from him unless you act right now.
So save some of that pink derriere will you and not waste it all on that desi mongrel who is all bark and no bite.
Instead show Abu Yazid that the “Loose and Forward Women” are second to none at defending National Interest.
Here is a really “loose and forward” way to do it.
Send him and the real Taliban some Pink Burqas instead to deliver the message that “Pink” is the most intimidating color there is.
Send them the message that they dare not send their Fidayeen to Indian shores, lest they return to the ungoverned wastelands of Northwestern Pakistan with their toe-nails colored pink.
Still not convinced well think of the yeo-women service you will be doing to all the “not so loose” and “really backward” women of the North Western Frontier who have no “pubs to go to”. The “Pink Burqa” will become a ray of hope that someday they too can taste the pink flavor of freedom at their neighborhood pink watering hole.

I looked up the last link in this post even though it was linking to a news website I generally tend to avoid. D P Satish spews visceral hatred towards the BJP and Hindus in Karnataka in general. He is a classic example of a pseudo-secularist with jaundiced eyes who thinks all evil comes from the saffron wing and from docile hindus. Why was it necessary to quote him or link to his post on the Mangalore issue? Just because he happened to agree with us on this one thing? This is quite akin to throwing in our lot with the devil just because we have a common enemy, which I don’t think is Dharma.

Infact BBC had a radio thing a year ago which mentioned that hospitals can no longer handle the problem of multi organ failure due to alcoholism. Additionally the effects on the foetus’s are growing. There are many more peripheral effects like rapes, HIV etc which social alcoholism is bringing about. This is a lot more relevant.

What exactly will Nisha Susan do with these underwears (new and old ) ? . I will not be surprised if she handovers the new ones to some church agent who will shamelessly bundle them with rice bags and interest free loans to convert some innocent aadivaasis in remote parts of India. Sandip: We do have laws restricting rights. You may feel that you a right to or freedom to experiment. But what is going on around us is sickening. Alcoholism, drug abuse, child molesting and what not. I do not abuse anybody personally. But I do have my own view point on these. Even if someone uses drugs, alcohol etc., on an experimental basis, there is every possibility that he/she may continue to use it. “Say no for the First time”.
I do feel that State and Society have a responsibility along with the parents. Alcoholism and drug abuse are on the rise. So is the case of abuse of young children. Just a few months back three girls committed suicide due to sex abuse. Do we require such a freedom ? These young ones can be my sister, my daughter, my near and dear. When I think in these lines my blood boils. You may call me HINDU CHAUVINIST FASCIST OR WHATEVER you may wish to. You must be aware that majority of the accidents occur due to drunken driving. Drug abuse is on the rise. A few days back a CPI(M) Central Committee Member said that the main source of revenue is from sale of liquor. He also said that people should make the practice of purchasing liquor alongwith monthly grocery. I also know that a major part of the earnings of the poor is spent towards liquor. Now every one is being attracted towards pubs and liquor shops, deliberately. Who are the forces behind this ? Politicians ? Liquor lobbies ? I felt sad. I know I cannot do anything.
Mahatma Gandhiji knew how consumption of liquor plays havoc in the lives of our poor citizens. He advocated prohibition. But Gandhiji’s name is invoked only for getting some votes. Otherwise his thoughts remain in the dusty racks of bookshelves.
It was the middle class morality which applied some kind of brakes. But forces are working in full swing to blow up even the middle class morality into smithereens so that some more moolah can be made.

The main problem you all have is pubs in cities or against liquor consumption in general ? Becos if its in general its understandable but if its only against pubs in cities its hypocritical. When I was in my 12th we went to a village called Hajipur in Bihar and the landscape there is dotted with liquor shops selling country made liquor. From 4.30 to late nights its full of men drinking, fighting, abusing each other and breaking each other heads sometimes. I am against liquor consumption but can you any of you ask Ram sena to go there and beat up those men? Becos I notice they only want to beat up women why this partiality? Mr KSV will you advise your brethren in Theni or Dharmapuri to stop drinking “KALLU” ?

What is the point of all this, guys. Some stupid Muttalik goes into a pub and brings out girls and acts rash with them. Thousands of such things happen in India where one group of people barge into opposition camp (sitting in a restaruant, bar or somewhere) and pick up a fight.
Because there were the girls the elites of india associate with and the perpeterator used a hindu name for his organization, this issue has gained undue media attention. (of course, all of you know this, but seems like we are forgetting the basics).
The reaction and counter reaction sounds so comical and appears like a 10th standard students revenge. If Muttalik broke a law, put him behind bars and be done with it.

The pub was not breaking the law. Karnataka is not a dry state and to my knowledge has never been so.
GIving a mixed statement implies
- there is indirect support for the action
- could be construed to imply alcohol consumption is undesirable.
Coming from a member of the public this statement is unremarkable, you are entitled to your personal views but not from someone in office !
To me, again this is yet another one of those law & order issues. Had this happened elsewhere, the perps would have been rounded up and put before a judge the following morning or at the very latest, the next day. They would have got punishment befitting the crime and not a slap on the wrist.
This whole incident should have been some small mention in the inside pages and forgotten NOT front page news. That, it did make the front page, to me, is not some conspiracy to fault the ruling party in the state and therefore an ombudsmen is a lame excuse to cover up the reality. There would never have been any chaddi campaign as the act itself would have been too costly to carry out with no return, in the first place.
It highlights an issue that i see ever increasingly in this country namely, the inadequate policing given a sample size of population. Just try misbehaving abroad after a few drinks, or no drinks. One phone call is all it takes and the cops are there, in your face and you do time downtown.
Well that does not happen in my city. One that used to be party central of the country, till very recently but now shuts down at 11pm as they can’t control law & order. Delhi does not have this problem, you can party till 3AM and the drinks are far more cheaper there.
The reasons i was given was such behaviour is not “Indian”, which always struck me as rubbish. You *could* do precisely that recently as 5 yrs back and can continue to do so in Delhi today.

What is your mechanism for checking who is earning and who is not since you are saying effectively that a person who earns is allowed to drink . Alcohol and pubs have existed from times immemorial. I compoletely agree with JIggs and the rest who say this is a non-issue. I am a teetotaller and a vegetarian and I think have strong personal and spirititual reasons to be one. This is my upbringing and later on in my life my choice. I cant force it down the throats of the others. Dont give oxygen to this stupid issue, we have more serious issues at hand.
More seriously, I was watching the Gladiator and how the politicians were manipulating the masses with the ‘circuses’. This whole issue is a circus to distract from the real issues, wake up guys and stop fighting amongst ourselves. The objective is to defeat the UPA in the elections, everthing else is ‘time pass’
