Giving Oxygen to Dinosaurs and Rodents

Well that is what the 24×7 english news media has reduced itself to.

Its a time tested template that allow Rodents like Raj Thakeray and now his cousin from across the border Pramod Muthalik to grab national headlines without having sweat their brow while beating up those who cannot defend themselves.

It also resurrects those dinosaurs otherwise known as Ministers of State, who occupy a lot of space in Lutyens New Delhi but are mostly irrelevant.

So we have the incorrigible Renuka Choudary finding her voice on hate crimes against women exactly a month after the acid throwing incident in her backyard of Congress ruled Andhra Pradesh.

After years of delinquency and non performance, the sharp tongued Minister of Women’s welfare is back in the news.

Where pray was Renuka Choudary one must ask when the acid incident in Warangal and the subsequent fake police encounter took place ?

Well there were no NDTV headlines screaming India’s shame or CNN-IBN running a special feature on Talibanisation of India in Congress ruled Andhra so one can safely say Renuka Chaudary was busy doing whatever it is she doesnt do at the taxpayer’s expense.

In fact the perverse attitude of the 24×7 media becomes apparent if one compares the national media coverage of the acid throwing incident in Warangal with the attack on the pub in Mangalore.

On December 31st one of the girl victims of the acid attack Swapnika died after a prolonged medical battle. Hardly 30 odd stories can be found on Google News on her death. In stark contrast the Mangalore Pub incident in less than 48 hours 3 times the number of stories on Google News.

In its temptation to play up the “Saffron Talibanisation” template over every minor incident of lawlessness in a BJP ruled state the 24×7 english media is making the same mistake it made in Gujarat. This ostrich like attitude is likely to do little to enhance viewership in these states and is only going to strengthen the influence of vernacular media to the detriment of the 24×7 english media.

The incidents in Mangalore are reprehensible but they are no more than symptomatic of a civic society where the rule of law is observed in the exception. The Police in Mangalore have done themselves no pride with their obduracy in passing the buck to the media instead of striking down on those who broke the law with an iron hand.

    RoW,

are you in dream world.. meida “smartest hahaha rationalist.. media is stupid and biased always. including all the vernacular channels. Why you forget the media said the Islamic Jihadi Terrorists as Militants.. is this rational and at the same time the hindoooo terrorist. is that non-biased and fair??? what a joke.. the final sentence explains it all that you too are a media guy.. no wonder.

    King Iyer,’

I support you.. this problem is happening in Bangalore and Chennai and all other metro cities.. this is because of outsourcing and call center which is going to shrink.. the bubble is going to burst soon.. The cultural problem because of the greed of some corporate tycoons. Sufferers are middle class innocent and traditional families of India.. the things happening in call centers and so called prestigeous IT companies.. are far more than what we can imagine.. I am sure there will be some “macualay educated rationalists” (who is supposed to suffer in their old age..if they make it till their old ages, . repenting it… because when the blood is hot in their nerves and there is health they can afford to become rationlists. I know lot of old maoist commies are now real Nationalists and really praciticing Vedic rituals, I wonder when they were young if they have done these rituals the society itself might be in a different angle of vision now) here who don’t agree my statement.. But Indian diaspora is having its own culture.. and the world is variety and dont try to spoil it through cultural invasion, In the name of “modernity” and the youth freedom, which is stupiditya nd this will make lot of familes cry, and this is beause of the greed of some business people. Parents cannot control their children after a certain age, nowadays the temptation and the people are compelled to do this kind of things forcibly in the so called “IT offices” in the name of stupidity modernity. And this is one of the view or opinion lot of so called modern thinking rational fools won’t agree to this.

ladycool:You say “if she comes home drunk this is case of parenting failure. Dont blame women.” Is it not failure of the society as a whole, which includes the so called activists, media. What kng iyer says is the reality.

Further, is it only parenting failure. The environment does exert an influence. The other day I happen to see a news item wherein a girl sold of her ornaments, something like that, to purchase a mobile phone so that she can be one among her colleagues who too own mobile phones. This is the syndrome that is ruling now. Don’t blame the parents for such incidents. Can you fathom the emotional stress, the agony of a parent under these circumstances. You have to be a parent to feel it, after bringing up the child to be a worthy son/daughter, a good citizen and the only help in their old age.

Think this is being don by your child, your sister/brother, your near and dear ones. Do you approve of such a thing. Ask your conscience. I don’t approve of taking law into ones hands. There is a law enforcement authority for that. But the society, the law enforcement agency and everybody else has a responsibility. Aarante ammakku pranthu pidichal kaanan nalla chelu (If somebody else’s mother goes mad, it is a fun to see).

This is a news item in a local Malayalam daily. Drinking should become a part of food habit: said EP Jayarjan, CPI(M) Central Committee member. He further said, if liquor shops are closed, the state government will have no revenue. So the major income of the State government is from this source. Don’t you feel it a tragedy. ( In Gujarat prohibition is in force but still the government has got enough money to manage the state, I don’t know why it is so in Kerala). The people of Kerala spend more money towards liquor than for the staple food rice. Once upon a time there were queues in front of ration shops in Kerala, but you can see long queues in front of the State Government owned beverages corporation. Even teenagers are in the habit of drinking. Is this the individual freedom we cherished ?

Yes, somewhere we have to draw the line. Incidentally, I agree with the Rajasthan Chief Minister, Shri Gehlot irrespective of whether I subscribe to the vote bank politics of Congress or not.

  4. Sakthi says:

The psecs are being disingenuous. “Hindu Taliban” ??????
How did NDTV get there beforehand? And even if the allegations are true, what is wrong with taking action against stupid women getting recruited by Islamic Romeos to serve as wombs nay baby factories for the next generation of Muslim Islamic Terrorists?

But here is a catch, CNN IBN’s news reader Karmapalkar on 1/28/2009 at 3:00 PM reported that Congress ruled Rajasthan’s CM Ghelot has made similar statements like the head of the alleged attackers who allegedly attacked women in Mangalore. But the news reader and his correspondent were justifying Gehlot’s statements as fine because it increases excise duty on liquor and curbs Boy-Girl holding hands as indecent. Wow. So as per the Bharatiya media, it is OK if a Congress ruled state’s CM says so but if someone else says so in a BJP ruled state then they blame it on Hindus and call it Hindutva radicals. What kind of a biased reporting us this! These people are sick with utter prejudice for Hindus.

They are already flashing communal Anti-Hindu quotes like “Ram Sena or Taliban of India”. Can they ever dare to say Muhammad sena? Just like how they insulted the holy Hindu symbol OM (?) when they coined the mythical term Hindu Terror.

  7. sud says:

OK, lemme get this outta the way:
Strongly condemn vigilantism and moral policing by any group on Indian territory in violation of Indian law.
    OK, now…..

    Wow.

I do hope dhimmedia true to form works itself into an ever more frothy frenzy. The more accusations of ‘yindoo taliban’, ‘yindoo terrorism’ etc they bandy about, the more these words become meaningless and the more they unite their saffron enemy.

Anyone remember the viciousness with which NaMo and Guj in general were attacked continuously and repeatedly since 2002? What came off that?

The real risk here is that these media iceholes will stop short. They should go on and on with this drumbeat which in their charmed circles and closed echo-chambers will take them ever farther from aam aadmi reality.

Next time on, folks, should you hear someone mouthing off about saffron taliban, pls go with the flow and loudly demand that yindooism itself be banned from the world…. yup, then watch the stunned fun around. Folx pee on Indic beliefs because they can. We can do one better – make a parody outta this ability. Go so overboard that even the psec pretender will have occasion to pause and ponder his shallowness. (Warning: Don;t try that with commies though. They will go one up on your craziness gladly onlee).

  8. Mpanj says:

Amazing isnt it – neither CNNIBN nor NDTV websites have the Ghelot comments on pubs and malls ‘culture’.

There’s no stories running on Ghelot’s comments every 30 seconds.

This further illustrates the fact that this was a planned ‘event’ – the cameras were there along with the Sene goons. Ready to show the world that law and order is falling apart in another BJP ruled state.

What Tehelka started with Bangaru Laxaman has been fine tuned by the MSM and BJP has no response other than putting forth such ineffective communicators as Ram Madhav and Prakash Javdhekar……

  9. Ravindra says:

Whatever it is, I’m sure the psec media must be celebrating with their latest coup! The timing is perfect just a few months before the general elections.

The BJP is going downhill with their internal quarrels, losing crucial state elections and now, with the Mangalore incident, attracting the disgust of the ultra-liberal who were gradually warming up to the Modi-as-PM idea touted by the rich industrials with whom they could relate to!

    Already, we have this….

A fresh-from-bypass-surgery Manmohan Singh is more favoured than LK Advani for the PM’s post!!!

    http://www.livemint.com/2009/01/29003748/Singh-more-favoured-than-Advan.html

  10. prashant says:

“The State Government is likely to lose Rs 30 crore per annum due to the closure of the country-made liquor outlets while the shutdown of IMFL will cost the State exchequer Rs 1.15 crore,” the Chief Minister added. The State has already curtailed the timing of wine shops from 9 am to 11 pm to 10 am to 8 pm.

  13. kng iyer says:

Ghelot’s comments are a reflection of the lower/middle class Hindu voters.Cong is desperately muscling into BJP territory. I would not be surprised if Cong comes out with a Ram Mandir promise in their manifesto!!
BJP should asap ring fence the Hindutva space.
Muthalik has literally challenged the BJP today. If it is a part of a well orchestrated plan,I would say that it is brilliant.

  14. Jiggs says:

    @kng iyer…

My friend I coudn’t agree with you more. This whole incident reeks of a cheap, gutter CON gress conspiracy, may be the bye elections drubbing is still fresh in their minds and they chose to retalitae like the INDIAN MUJAHIDEEN :)

The thing that sticks up my craw is what was the NDTV crew doing at that pub some time before the attacks began, I agree with K’taka IGP , that they should have informed the cops about the impending assualt. However, I think we get blinded and forget that NDTV is part of the CON gress pariwar:)The point is why not haul the reporters of NDTV to Bengaluru and put them to narco analysis???? WTF, why isnt tax payers money utilized in a better way, the truth will be out in no moment.

Further, one of the girl’s who was whacked by these guys, appeared on all Telly channels and clearly said that ” SHE IS HAPPY WITH THE POLICE RESPONSE AND THAT THE COPS CAME IMEMADIATELY ,However she added their is room for more”.

Bar/Pub culture is here to stay all right….I think we desi’s are suffering the identity crisis blues….cmon….accept it, we never had so much money on us before, and now since we have it, whop it up!!!!!like fish in a net….

  15. Ajay says:

Times-Now is still at it! It is as if the world has stood still for them and refuses to start turning till BSY and BJP govt. resigns for it.

Now they are linking Purohit to it! WTF, i’ve heard absurd fairy tales, but this one takes the cake!

Hope Indians are intelligent enough to not fall for Times-Now and Kangress tricks.
