Its been nearly 12 hours since the BJP announced its boycott of CNN-IBN, but the channel it appears lacks the intellectual courage to even acknowledge the boycott for its news value. But then we the consumers of news were foolish to believe that CNN-IBN was about Us. We just have to look at the vision statement expressed by Rajdeep Sardesai to realize that this was never about Us the consumers but always about them the Jholawallahs or as Rajdeep puts it in typical psuedo-intellecual fashion ?- “editorial sovereignity”.
The news channel is built on the age-old ethic that editorial sovereignty is inviolable – and this shall be a cornerstone of GBN’s partnership with CNN. It will be a journalist-driven channel rooted in the realities of modern India. With nationwide news gathering capabilities, superior journalistic talent, and a passion for news, the new service will endeavour to get the news first and direct from the ground. So what Mr. Sardesai is saying is that his channel is really about the same old intellecutual arrogance and elitism of the so called “progressive liberals” who think they know what is right for us and hence will sit in judgement on what ought to be dished out to as news and opinion and what ought not.

Some people here were planning to take on Congress party on terrorism using easily available web products and make it into an movement aganist terrorism.
Already a simple group in US has done it for Gujarat. They started http://supportgujarat.org/ during Oct/Nov 2007 and ran the Support Gujarat campaign very successfully. They had more that 150000 hits within 3 weeks. They were able to use free internet & telephony services to target their reach in Gujarat also.
If any body is interested to that kind of campaign, they can easily help with basic framework & might even work with this project.

Good. What the witness proves beyond doubt is that there is STRONG case for Singh the King to promote Rajdeep Chor-desai’s Padmasri to a Bharat Ratna. The rascal saved a government — Singh’s in this case — and that is not an achievement that many “journalists” can put in their resume.

Arun Jaitle, just held a press conference and has disclosed the the MPs have submitted a 17 page report with clinching EVIDENCE to the parliamentary committee and he says that this will nail the govt. and the TV channel which refused to air the tapes.

If the BJP has transcripts of the video recording, does it mean it has the tapes as well? Or did it also, unknown to Turdesai, make its own recording? The latter would have been a killer strategy.

My speculation is that the BJP also made an audio recording of the proceedings. Perhaps on equipment no more sophisticated than mobile phones. Turdesai may not be aware of this recording.
