War on Terror – Where does the buck stop Mr. Prime Minister ?

Ten tough questions for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on where he stands in the War on Terror.

Qn1 . Who are the Indian Mujahideen ?

Qn2. Where are they based ?

Qn 3. How do they operate ?

Qn 4. Why are they doing what they are doing ?

Qn 5. Who is funding them ?

Qn 6. How come we know so little about them since Guru Al Hindi started claiming responsibility for this wave of attacks of mass terror ?

Qn 7. Manmohan Singh claimed credit for Mumbai 7-11 quoting the October 2006 news conference by the Mumbai Police. In that same news conference the Mumbai Police blamed elements in Pakistan for it. So if the Govt wants to take credit for the arrests in Mumbai is it prepared to accept responsibility and explain what specific steps it has taken since to nail these elements ?

Qn 8. Manmohan Singh went on record to say that it wont be business as usual after 7-11, can he pinpoint specifically how the business of his government has changed ever since, does he sleep on the other side of the bed or does he wake up with his eyes shut to ensure its not business as usual ?

Qn 9. In How many specific instances have the Intelligence Agencies imagined scenarios to connect dots and pre-empt plots ? If there were inded as many of arrests why are we no more closer to unmasking this elusive Guru Al-Hindi and his Indian Mujahideen ?

Qn 10. Where does the buck stop in Government Cabinet Mr. Prime Minister at Race Course or 10 Janpath or at the black hole called fate ?

YossBoss…In response to your query # 10, I’d like to quote Patil, in the aftermath of Hyderabad blasts…”its our fate…kya karein?”[:(] And btw, the buck sure doesn’t stop at 10 Janpath…it would even be sacrilegious or blasphemous to suggest so.[/)]

Regarding MMS’s stand on terror, well the spate of explosioms witnessed in recent years, esp under UPA (mis)rule are testimony to the fact that the chaprasi-in-chief doesn’t have any loci-standi on this ’sensative’ & strict no-no subject of ‘War on Terror’…even if he ventures into discussing this topic, I am sure the reigning deity of 10 Janpath will sure given him a dressing down.

It is almost excruciating to see near simultaneous blasts wrecking havoc on the entire nation. Worst, this is not the end is what the perpetrators are boasting. Blasts after blasts: Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Malegaon, Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmadabad god knows which city is next. UPA government’s record in dealing with terrorism is abysmal. Post 9/11, 7/7, Madrid blasts, there hasn’t been a single instance of a terrorist attack on the countries that were made victim of these terror bombings. And here look at my country, a proud Indian that I am, but I am ashamed to admit that my country can not protect its own citizens in its own land. It hurts me, it boils my blood. How long will this continue?
Sometimes I feel that the solution proposed in Rang De Basanti movie will only provoke the much needed change in this country. As extreme as it may sound ( I am not a supporter of extremist ideology ) but there is a limit to the loss of innocent human lives and the in efficiency of the government agencies.
And this Home Minister in his monotonous, hackneyed speech says that “the government is doing what it can. Please remain calm.”
Excuse me! What the f***? Are you playing a game of destiny with this country?Well, having stayed in United States for the last 2 years, what I have come to realize is that, the American foreign policy is a vicious plot to achieve world supremacy sidelining all the morality and justice its constitution speaks of but let me point out that there is no negotiation on the country’s security. Yes, they believe in disproportionate response to the enemy of the state.
And look at our security policy. A policy that can neither protect our national interests nor its citizens.
We need to do something about this, actively!

Qn 4. Why are they doing what they are doing ?

    Because they can !

Even now when Mr Patil talked about the ah’d blasts his words where “Log kitna hain, aur police kitna hain, uska app andaza laga sakte hain”. he has made similar statements before. Its not his fault, its the immense size and population of India. It would be so much more difficult to raise an internal security force free of votebank politics, then just let people die and then say
    ‘kya kare’, right ?

terrorists have a free for all terror fest in India, where each Indian citizen fights for himself.

    Hi Folks,
NDTV has a collection of the response of teh home minister after all the terror attacks.

Just see the way he contradicts himself.

Also observe the huge difference in his reaction and that of M.O.D.

I was surprised when I found my colleagues at work, both well educated, sober men pacified by marriage and responsibility pop the inevitable – ‘Why is it only community X is involved in such acts.’
I guess people are getting their heads out of the sand and realizing that combating terror entails asking (and answering) hard questions. Our PM – with or without horse traded MPs – is hardly representative of the people or their will to crush terror.

  6. Jiggs says:

    Yossarin…

The Union has failed on the terror issue like a chinese firedrill.

I have no doubt, that some one at a higher position is lending a helping hand to these terrorists.

I dont believe that our intelligence community is made up of assholes, IB & RAW are top notch set ups, the problem is that they dont have the liberty to work.

Here I am posting an article from today’s TOI:

    Some Excerpts:

“According to the Special Branch Rules that govern the intelligence machinery, the heads of special cells of states are to be appointed in consultation with the director of IB (DIB). This is to ensure a better coordination among the forces.

But with many states ruled by regional or opposition parties, IB is looked upon as a hostile agency and the special branch chief is rarely appointed in consultation with the Centre. Special branch chiefs are often state appointees, owing the post to their proximity to the regime of the day, rather than suitability for the job.”

“Top sources conceded that agencies, including customs, military intelligence, revenue intelligence, have often been found to be more interested in cornering the credit than coordinating with their counterparts for a common objective. ”

“Even the IB — designated to be the nodal domestic intelligence agency with the brief to collaborate with other intelligence bodies and state special branches and which reports directly to the PMO — is bogged down with problems. With a total manpower of around 20,000, IB is awfully short of officers. Against 250 sanctioned posts of IPS officers, it has not more than 100 at present. Most people prefer to don the khaki than be lost in stress-laden IB jobs.

The story of Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), the country’s external intelligence agency, is no different. A few years ago, a rank outsider was made to head the force although he had only three months to retire. Rules were bent to accommodate him and he had an extended two-year tenure. In short, games often stoked by politicians are rampant in these key intelligence bodies. “

  9. Jiggs says:

Here’s what M.O.D told MMS when he visited Ahmedabad yesterday:

“the Chief Minister told the PM that the blasts in Ahmedabad should not be viewed as a terrorist act in isolation.

The masterminds of the terrorist attacks are not within the boundaries of the country. Therefore, it is for the

Government of India to take up the responsibility to trace and apprehend them,¿ Modi said.

Requesting the Prime Minister to strengthen the security and intelligence network across the country, Modi advocated formation of an All India Intelligence Service on the lines of the IAS and IPS to ¿bring professionalism¿ in the intelligence wing.

He said that Central intelligence agencies should not behave in a casual and routine manner¿ and merely pass on intelligence inputs to the states. ¿There has to be proactive, sincere, organised and continuous efforts to unearth terrorist activities, networks and their designs by intelligence agencies¿, he said.

According to Modi, there is a need to modernise the police force and intelligence machinery and states have to be assisted adequately by the Centre.”

iT WON’T BE BUSINESS AS USUAL.

Is it not one thing correct about what the Chaprasi in Chief said

    1. After 7/11 PENSIONS WERE ANNONCED FOR TERRORIST KIN FAMILIES, BECAUSE THE HE (OR HIS BOSS) LOST SLEEP OVE THE FATE OF TERRORIST FAMILIES

    2. AFTER 7/11 “SCHOLARSHIPS” WERE ANNOUNCED FOR THE DEATH CULTS TO THE TUNE OF 2800 CRORES, (WHICH IRONICALLY WAS NOT GIVEN TO THE POLICE DEPT WHEN ASKED BY NPC FOR MODERNIZATION OF FORCES)

    3. AFTER 7/11 THE AP GOVT OF THE CRIMINAL CHRISTIAN 5 P B..TD ANNOUNCED THE JERUSALAM SUBSIDY, IN A HINDU NATION ( LET THE ITALIAN WHITE IMPOSTER GET DECLARE THE HINDU SUBSIDY DECLARED BY ITALIAN FOR HINDUS IN ITALY)

    4. AFTER 7/11 THERE WAS OPEN HORSETRADING WITH THE SO CALLED “FOURTH ESTATE” FILLED WITH SUCH DEGRADED AND DEBAUCHED IMMORAL ANIMALS THAT THERE WAS NO “ARUN SHOURIE” FOR BOFORS. FROM SHOURIE TO SHUKAR.

    5. AFTER 7/11 THE ITALIAN AND CHAPRASI DO NOT LOOSE SLEEP OVER POOR “BROWNS” KILLED, FARMER SUICIDE (WHICH IS DELIBERATE POLICY) ETC. BUT A 123 IS SO IMPORTANT THAT THE COUNTRY IS BROUGHT TO A STANDSTILL FOR THE SAKE OF SOME FOREIGN ACCOUNTS.

IT IS INDEED NOT BUSINESS AS USUAL MR C-IN-C

  13. Janpar Mallai says:

Sorry Yossarin, PM-saheb is too busy figuring out how to accomodate all of the dacoits that MSY, Shibu Soren and company hope to make union ministers of our nation :)

Terrorism can hardly be considered vital in face of such an important matter. Maybe MSY can have SIMI declared a charitable organization while he holds the strings? Thats pretty much where things are headed.

  14. S.M. Bawa says:

Question is What is Manmohan Singh doing?
The dying people are just a number for him? He needs to put himself in shoes of those who lost their family members. As long as his own family is safe, he does not care how many die in India due to Terrorism.
