PMO or BPO – The Baalu Lettergate Scandal

The cat is now officially out of the bag folks.

The reasons for the dysfunctional nature of the Manmohan Singh Government can now be clearly understood with this revealation by Congress Courtier Abhishek Manu Singhvi on the T.R. Baalu Lettergate Scandal.

Maintaining that the letters were merely “forwarding” in nature, he said “there is no question of endorsing or agreeing” in what Baalu had written. He denied suggestions that the PMO had lobbied for the gas supply.

So it is clear that the Prime Minister’s Office has no time for Leadership or Governance for it is now officially into the Mail Forwarding business.

So here goes a letter from Offstumped to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Dear Dr. Manmohan Singh

I am not sure exactly where I must address this letter to for now 7 Race Course is merely a mail forwarding center. So I am not sure if this letter will be read by 7 Race Course or if it will automatically be forwarded to 10 Janpath.

Nevertheless I am not one who gives up easily.

First allow me to congratulate you on this new mail forwarding venture. It goes to show your faith on the future of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in India.

Let me now get to the purpose of this letter. As you know I have been penning many letters of the open and unknown variety for some time now. But I seem to have trouble getting them delivered to their destinations.

Now that your good office has taken up the onerous task of forwarding mail, much thanks to the demands of Shri T.R. Baalu’s bigamous affairs, I wanted to request you to “merely” forward my letters as well.

First is this open letter to Smt Sonia Gandhi asking her to put you out of your misery, could you please ensure this one gets to 10 Janpath.

Next is this letter from a Muslim in Gujarat which ended up at Offstumped on the eve of the BJP Narendra Modi victory, perhaps with your office ensuring equity in Mail for Minorities, this letter will make its way to the powers-that-be within in the Muslim Community.

Then of course this letter from a farmer responding to your Agricultural Debt Loan Waiver in the Union Budget. This one is a little tricky for it is intended for you, have you figured out how you can forward mail to yourself without getting into a recursive loop ?

And then this one to your party in Karnataka in response to its manifesto promising Color TVs. Btw any further word on the make model of the Color TV so I can make good on my not-so-poor cousin’s promise to sell it n E-Bay.

Then finally these letters addressed to you, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi saying Dhanyavaad for all that your 4 years of dysfunctional Governance has delivered – Poverty, Educational Backwardness .

In closing let me once again appreciate how valuable this mail forwarding service will be to the “aam admi” while serving “khaas admi” like T.R. Baalu. I just have one question though.

If as Mr. Singhvi claims you were not endorsing or agreeing with Mr. Baalu, why exactly did he approach you to forward his letters ?

A) Is it because he is illiterate and does not know how to address letters ?

B) Is it because your government’s mail delivery is so unreliable that he decided to outsource delivery to your Office ?

C) Is it because you have a lot of spare time and have decided to take on Mail Forwarding as a hobby ?

D) Is it because the Petroleum Ministry is allergic to bigamous and flatulent nepotism ?
