No this is not Gujarat in 2002?we are talking Nandigram in 2007.
The untold story of Nandigram is the inordinately large number of Muslim victims who have fallen prey to the CPI-Mafioso.
So when Buddhadeb spoke like a Taliban Warlord that “they have been paid with the same coin” who exactly was he referring to – innocent Muslim women ?
Let us recount what exactly he said
“The people who were ruling Nandigram, do you think they were peaceful people? They were moving without arms? They harassed, killed and evicted our people without arms? Our people were evicted by a group of armed workers of opposition,?

And I thought Buddhdeb Bhattacharjee was civilized compared to Jyoti Basu.
This is interesting… what’s the proportion of Muslims in Nandigram’s population?
There’s the involvement of a fundamentalist Muslim group Jamaat-e-Islam in this “conflict” from BUPC’s side… so is the CPM trying to get some sort of revenge from the JeI by killing Muslims?
What’s important here is whether CPM deliberately targetted Muslims…
CPM was not targetting muslims, that is quite contrary to their interests given that it was Muslim farmers who propped up their regime for so long. Infact the communist regime had been encouraging infiltration from Bangladesh and helping them to settle in West Bengal precisely for this purpose. That Nandigram was a muslim-dominated was the reason why CPM was so confident that there would be little resistance to their SEZ plans. Clearly the cadres have been taken aback by the ferocity of resistance in Nandigram and want to make a example of it to the rest of the state, thereby discouraging the rest of villages especially muslims from turning against CPM. It is anybody’s guess whether they will succeed or the war will take them down with it

[...] Check it out! While looking through the blogosphere we stumbled on an interesting post today. Here’s a quick excerptthe women and children of Nandigram, mostly muslim (a fact that hardly finds mention in the letter). Next the political Left versus the radical Left battle. Barely 24 hours after contradicting his Chief Minister, Buddhadeb’s Taliban Act, West Bengal Home Secretary Ranjan Roy today did an about turn claiming evidence of Maoist Activity in the area around Nandigram. As evidence this is what he had to share three arms and two land mines with detonators were seized by the CRPF from Nandigram Thr [...]
There are always two standards for self-anointed secularists especially the media. Murder by commies is okay because they are trying to create a just society. But inter-religious riots are evil because religion is evil and all religious folks are evil. We still see support for Stalin, and especially Mao, and their mayham not just from commie ideologues but the so-called intellectuals.
CPI-M has garland photos of these foreign mass murders in their offices and I won’t be surprised if Basu, Buddha, and Karats pray for these venerable bloody souls everyday.
Nandigram is small change for these guys who are still gong-ho about mass revolution and mass murder to bring, what else, a justice society. One can hear Islamic terrorists talking.
Chandra – you hit it as always.
atlantean – this feud is many years old, see my latest post.
shashi – it doesnt look like the muslims of nandigram/midnapore were great fans of the cpi-m see my latest post
Yossarin,
Shasi is right, He has stated basic philosophy CPIM had on Muslim. But they did not understand that musilm will one day ask better life and oppose inhumen tactic adopted to evit them from their land. After 30 years left rule Muslim has realized that CPIM has used them only as a vote bank without any developement of their life. So they are now protesting against Left and that can be seen throught out north bengal. Beacuse of that Jamaet-ul-hindhind (no they are not communal but only party for muslim) increases its base which is unfortunate. Yes, Mamata could not attarct them because of her association with BJP, altough Nitish Kumar can do in Bihar. This can understand if we think logically, in bengal secularism and so-called progressive mind is an over pitching slogan and reverating 24 hours in the ear. So Muslim is scared to associate to Mamta.
Diffrence between MODI,BHUDHDEV,HITLER
In Gujrat thousand goondas are arrestted by police, punished by court.
in Bengal no one arrestted till date .WHY
WHAT IS DIFFRENCE between BHUDHDEV and HITLER
Muslims should understand the real motivs of cpi-cpm ….the writing is on the wall…
Don’t you think the minorities commission should be looking at this episode?
Balaji – see my earlier post on Minority Commission. It is a disgrace even for minorytism. The only rights it has been fighting for are the rights of minority run educational institutions not even education for minorities. Remember how the present VP and then minority commission chairman visited nandigram and promptly gave a certificate to the CPI-M that its violence against minorities was secular and not communal
