Shiekh Motaleb, who anyhow managed to rescue his sister Mossamat Akhera Bibi and admit her to the Tamluk sub-divisional hospital in East Midnapore on Saturday, said: ?My sister was pregnant and couldn?t run away when the armed CPM cadres stormed inside Satengabari village. She was severally beaten up and then raped by the cadres. Her two teenage daughters Soma Khatoon and Anwara Khatoon too have been raped and then taken away.??

In such cases, rape is difficult to confirm by physical verification, often circumstantial evidence is crucial,” said Dr Sudip Gole who carried out the medical examination on Saturday night.

The media is starting to take an interest once again. I think its gotten serious enough again (from their perspective) that they consider it a ‘juicy’ enough story for their time. After all, consider the mainstream media’s interest in naxalism. None of them have bothered taking the risk of going into areas where they might possibly be endangered. One of the key differences between India’s elite media and that of the rest of the world. India’s elite media is so so cluelessly stuck in the air-conditioned office and their journalists are so unbelievably cut off from any reality. No risk-takers here.

What nonsense. The media were not allowed into Nadigram – the marxist cadre were smarter than the VHP cadre! – so obviously there are no TV grabs and round the clock coverage.
The so-called pseudo-secularist media is now allowed in, and all the news is coming out of the newspapers and TV! Pioneer is only one paper, by themselves they can’t do shit-all about publicising Nandigram.
