Weekend Levity – Of sycophants, courtiers, mercenaries and clowns

history tells us not to expect any civility from sycophants, courtiers, mercenaries and clowns

That was NCP spokesperson DP Tripathi describing Abhishek Singhvi on Rahul Gandhi.

The NREGA largesse is now extended across the nation. Predictably the headlines have neither Manmohan Singh who runs the Government nor Raghuvansh Prasad who runs the Rural Development Ministry, the spin is all on Rahul Gandhi as Offstumped had highlighted in yesterday’s post.

Today’s verse is dedicated to the sycophants, courtiers, mercernaries and clowns who made all this happen for the heir-apparent.

this is no saga of deeds heroic

nor is this an epic of proportions dynastic

its not even about my accomplishments academic (shrouded in secrecy)

this is about my handlers, my courtiers, mercenaries and clowns sychophantic

Singhvi, my courier in chief, how deluded you are on my Charismatix

Jaiswal, that mercenary, did you have to offer me on a platter to Modix

Oily Moily, my favorite clown, is this all I am good for, a makeover Cosmetic

well now you know my courtiers, mercenaries and clowns sychophantic

they set me up in UP hoping for feats ballot-astic

but for my pocket borough, the barbs were caustic

landing my foot in the mouth, while they bailed me with spin cryptic

how could I ever do without, my courtiers, mercenaries and clowns sychophantic

at 37 I am no Dhoni, spare me the comparisons anachronistic

to sport a youthful face, what do you think of Botolinum toxic

battling those middle age blues with NY Jazz and Mamma’s tunic

Will I ever rid myself, of my courtiers, mercenaries and clowns sychophantic

Can Rahul do a Dhoni at Congress wicket? Economic Times

NEW DELHI: There is a story, probably apocryphal, about why the Congress decided to induct Rahul Gandhi into the party organisation on Monday. The timing of the Congress scion’s long-awaited entry into the party organisation puzzled many as it took place on a day when most newspapers had reserved their frontpages for a possible India win in the Twenty20 World Cup, and news channels had donned the mantle of sports broadcasters.

For those looking for explanations, the Congress rumour mills put out, perhaps half in jest, that no one wanted to give Mr Gandhi enough time to change his mind after agreeing to take up a post in the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

And that, in many ways, sums up the nature of the Congress’ anxiety over Mr Gandhi’s role in the party organisation and, hence, in national politics. While the Congress worried, the man in question retained a nonchalant attitude towards power. Therefore, he would probably be grateful for India’s win in the Wanderers, which not only gave him a low-profile entry into national politics — letting him get away without any big-ticket statements —, but also allowed Congressmen to compare him to victorious Indian captain and youth icon MS Dhoni.

In RG’s case, VANPRASTHASHRAM has, it appears, preceded GRIHASTHASHRAM. If he skips GRIHASTHASHRAM, how will the future dynasty run?

This article and the previous one – demonstrates the levity of “right-of-centre” issues.

Rajiv Gandhi seems to have swept the minds & hearts of offstumpted people !

I agree, the only substantial commentary on this blog is provided through mind bending comments of Bro RoW. In all fairness Yossarian should abdicate and let our Bro reign.
